Crow has always been a different person than Uldren. I carry no ill will towards the character and wish only the best for the kinderguardian. Crow is simply cursed to wear the face of the man who killed Cayde. Such is the nature of a Guardian. For all we know, our Guardian could have committed a mountain of heinous crimes in their past life.

I mean he offed a robot stand up comic, not like it was a real person anyway. Spider - i mean look at all the ghosts he has, i bet he's directly responsible for far more ghosts / guardians than he has displayed in his wheelchair.

  • The thing I wonder is Cayde really the only guardian Uldren killed directly? Judging from the reactions other guardians have towards him it seems a bit unlikely.

  • Remember, so has the Darkness. And here we are wielding it and people hardly bat an eye aside from the "don't become the next Dredgen Yor" statements. They even continue to grant us full access to the Tower. I'd say it's a little hypocritical for anybody to treat Crow with contempt. Our Guardian is literally wielding a paracausal force responsible for far more death than some dude who was disturbingly obsessed with his sister in a previous life.

  • I think the issue is that to some crow and uldren are the same. As far as I know there isn't much of a legal system in the way of Guardians so it's left up to individuals. The only way I see things like the Hawkmoon story ending is Crow has to prove he's a changed person and earn forgiveness. Because just saying he's not the same person won't ever be enough for some guardians both in game and IRL

  •
I think the issue is that to some crow and uldren are the same.
...and that's the problem. They can't see past the meat suit. Which brings a major philosophical/spiritual question into play? Who are we? Are we the forms that we take? But if we are, who-or-what-is-it that is aware of these forms? And if we aren't these forms, then what are we. To anyone who is familiar with the lore, and is a veteran player of the game, it is CLEAR that The Crow doesn't think, or act like Uldren did. Uldren was an asshole even in his best moments. The Crow is thoughtful, soft-spoken, and humble where Uldren was arrogant, sarcastic and entitled. But the human tendency is to build identities (for ourselves and others) around FORMS. So people can't see past the meat suit that the Crow got stuck with, and the history associated WITH that meat suit....to realize that they are two very different personalities. That what the Traveler brought back, arguably, would not be capable of what Uldren did. Never mind the fact that Uldren was being controlled by outside-and-hostile forces when he did it.
The only way I see things like the Hawkmoon story ending is Crow has to prove he's a changed person and earn forgiveness
He's already done that multiple times over. The issue here is not an unwillingness to atone on his part. Its a UNWILLINGNESS TO FORGIVE and to Forget on the part of Guardians. "The inability to forget is far more devastating than is the inability to remember." ---Mark Twain.

  • Unfortunately that means he'll have to do something bigger to outdo that feeling of not wanting to forgive him that some guardians have. As for me personally I see Crow and Uldren as the same person but I don't want him to suffer, I do want him to prove himself but that will take work.

  • Yep! It’s a clean slate. The sad thing is the only reason people treat him this way is because they KNOW what he has done. I’m sure their are others maybe even us who have done as bad if not worse...but nobody KNOWS so we don’t get that sort of attention or treatment.
