Concerns about recent player restrictions and returning to pvp

Hello I like a very noticeabley large wave of others had recently received an account restriction for having 'poor internet.' I hadn't concerened myself with this section of the forum until now but the general pattern has been Players with more than adequate internet and solutions have recieved warnings (players with superfast speeds, low ping and proper packet loss protection in place) Most replies in the forum relate back to how to appeal the restriction which really is just a dead end solution. My query here is (to the mods and ninjas etc) is this not a red flag situation of there being an increase of appeals and reports like this? What is the criteria needed to invite an investigation to a report into stability and how does an account fail this inspection if deemed that way? - I did receive a warning over a year ago for bad connection, this was likely legitimate as I only had access to copper wire net (5mbs, sub 1mbs upload) - I went on to use a hotspot (on ps4) that allowed me to game normally - I have submitted an appeal for my current restriction although I'm aware there seems to be little to no compassion involved with this process, they either read it or they don't (this in it's own seems like an unfair system) - My current internet operates at a very fast speed with low ping and no packet issues to boot and hasn't had an issue for a year now - I had potential ethernet bugs which affected my performance on one or 2 given days recently (I suspect this lead to my restriction although my overall presence in pvp would have been smooth outside this) going forward how can I have confidence in my presence in pvp that some other anomaly is not percieved as lag? I'm concerned as I had been gaming without any issues for the entire year to hit this roadblock out of nowhere. Thanks for reading and I look forward to an informative reply.

  • A wild Bungie Security account appears! Your account received a restriction because we detected multiple instances across multiple days over the course of the past several weeks where your game client stopped sending/receiving data for an extended period of time, then caught up afterwards. For other players this would appear as you teleporting or your shots showing up all at once. The most common causes for this type of issue are: * Saturated network bandwidth - Whether due to an old/damaged/low performance router/modem or extremely high network usage, if there's more data being pushed over your network than the connection can handle your messages will wind up in a queue and be delayed in being sent/received. * Outbound connection issues like modem signal problems - Sometimes these issues will only manifest when your network is at maximum usage. Other times they are always there. Typically you would need a technician from your ISP to help diagnose and fix these problems (though some diagnosis can be done if you're an expert user) * Upstream ISP issues - Sometimes your ISP will have hardware upstream from you that is nearing maximum capacity; this is especially hard to diagnose (and ISPs don't always like to admit it!). This can be especially common during "peak hours" when more people in your neighborhood are using the internet. Hopefully this information is helpful. I strongly recommend taking a look at the advanced sections of our Network Troubleshooting Guide: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Troubleshoot?oid=13603#Latency Cheers!
