With the Almighty gone, the Red War may go as well
Something that I have thought about, considering several angles, is whether or not Bungie might remove the Red War campaign from the game now that the only “loose end” from it is wrapping up with the Almighty.
This would present at least one big issue: the achievements tied to it. Which, to be honest, I don’t think anyone would really care that much long term if Bungie just auto-unlocked them for everyone. As for the Farm......who even remembers its there except for when doing Zero Hour?
But several things make me think this may be a possibility:
- It would open up a ton of room in the game files. Bungie not only talks openly about the game being too big (which I still don’t understand but I digress), but now they’ve also said next years seasonal content will stay all year on top of another expansion. Where is all that room in the game files gonna come from?
- Lack of playtime. Ever since New Light and the rather abrupt way new players are introduced to the game, the Red War is (likely) the least played content in the game.
- No tie to the current story. Almost nothing about the Red War is relevant in the narrative anymore. Especially after this season.
- It wouldn’t require removing a planet. There’s a lot of speculation about removing a planet entirely, such as Mercury or Titan, but if they went this route all the current planets could likely stay.
Now this would create several other large issues in the game, such as being locked out of content, the adventures on planets no longer having context, etc.
Do you think this could be a possibility?
