Reparations

In a land of golden grains of sand and nothing else stood a small tower. It was short, squat, and simple. The wasteland’s only feature, it was surprisingly unmolested by the sands of time, unworn and undamaged. But it only served as a landmark for what lay below… In the subterranean base labs and manufacturing lines were busy. Evelyn had left hundreds of ideas, blueprints and unlabeled prototypes lying around, and it was up to the doubles-copies of Orion-to test them. With access to almost universal presence, rapid progress was being made. One in particular had uncovered a triangle shaped pyramid of an unidentifiable substance, and was attempting to determine the function to no avail. His logic did not tire, and Orion slaved on. In the private quarters, an empty throne sat above the open workspace. From here, Orion gazed upon all the information he recovered from his mother’s planet. It was rewarding in more ways than one too, and he deduced a sliver of human gratification still resided in him. But presently, the sliver was very active. Pulling his unconscious, bleeding sister from the portal he rushed her to the medical/biological wing. Three doubles isolated her from the weapons she carried, and configured a room to her comfort. The walls that a moment ago were nigh-indestructible fell apart like a sand castle hit by the rising tide. Swirling into different shapes, they formed necessities for her flesh and bone-restroom, private quarters and dining room-trying to rationalize what she might like. Orion noted that perhaps logic would not provide the best answer, but determined the result would nonetheless be informative and useful. After the weapons were examined and the surgery to remove the bullets was successful, Orion summoned all the rune covered moon shards in his inventory. Isolating her inside an icosahedron of them prevented the Phoenix Protocol from damaging him and his assets. His black, shining mask reflected the harsh glow of the Jewel as it recognized the user needed a revival. If Orion could, he would have smiled as he poked the Jewel. An explosion the likes of which could destroy the solar system rocked the base, and knocked many sensors out of alignment. Delegating the repairs to the doubles, Orion gently felt her pulse. She was alive, and well. Satisfied, he walked back to the throne and accessed all files on her attackers. A quick glance at a time stopped piece of Crimson caught his attention for a moment, then back to the monitors he went. Justice was logical, and he would fulfill it to the fullest. The human sliver moved once more, and Orion felt his first need for revenge. They would pay for harming his family, pay dearly. Pay everything.
