This is needlessly redundant given Steam already has in-game notifications via the overlay. Along with it being needless, it's also just a terrible idea that breaches your privacy if you have any desire to stream the game to friends, or record videos. I don't want my private messages getting shown to everyone. Please either remove it or add an option to disable it, at the minimum.
