Up until now, I've been assuming the Nine and the emissary have been discussing the Drifter. But after this week, I'm beginning to think they have been talking about us, our guardians, this entire time.
We certainly do murder all the aliens we come in contact with as well as other guardians in crucible, before they murder us.
And this week the chest appeared right after the emissary answered Power, when asked what he or she, based on gender of your current guardian, was seeking.
Interesting move on Bungie's part, imo. And is making me look forward even more for the next week's Xur bounty.

Someone here was gathering information on players ingame choices leading up to that interaction, thinking something was triggering the color differences, but I never saw their collected thoughts after that 1st post. I'm curious to see where this is leading. Hopefully it actually does lead into something bigger, and it's not a bunch of randomness to string us along until next season adds more content.

Hmmm, I noticed the color difference but didn't realize it was different for different people. And I agree, I hope there is something meaningful at the end. Even if it is just more lore, I hope it impacts the Destiny Universe in some way.
