•
It’s why you don’t have competitive pvp in a loot game.
Partly. More so them not been able to separate the two game modes effectively from the start. To many changes came about to each game mode from one or the other.

 • Parly. But the games that don't typically understand that they have to choose one side of the game over the other. Warframe and The Division both have PVE sharing the same sandbox as PVP....but NEITHER game entertains ANY illusions about being "competitive" or an e-sport. So neither game makes more than a cursory effort to "balance" the sandbox for PVP play.

A bland as fck esport. They ripped all of the balance and feedback from its player base and went in completely the wrong direction.
They ripped all of the balance and feedback from its player base and went in completely the wrong direction.
Which is what Bungie tends to do way too often. Think they know best....and then go off to fulfill an agenda of their own...with no consideration of how the changes will be experienced by the player base. What they've done with Enhancement Cores is a **perfect** example of this kind of organizational dysfunction. Its good to have non-monetary "missions" as a business. But you can't let those secondary concerns jeopardize your primary mission. To give the consumer a good product at a good price....so that they are motivated to give you their MONEY.

 • Yup pretty much. Stubborn is the way to go..... If you want to lose customers. Just look at the new battlefield game. “Don’t buy it, if you don’t like it!” Ok!! We won’t.

 • Yes and no. Trials was fantastic in D1 and still god in D2 y1. But you just know they’re not bringing it back any time soon because of how shit Crucible is due to these two weapons and rampant shotguns.

 • Potentially. Still better than what Trials would be if they brought it back rn.

 • Trials was broken by design. I predicted it would fail after its second week. Just took longer than I expected before it did finally self-destruct, The problem is that Trials was partly responsible for giving us vanilla Destiny 2.

 • Trials wasnt responsible for vanilla D1. Lazy Bungie and pushy activision were. Trials wasnt broken by design. It was essentially a tournament that anybody could enter to get unique rewards. It was fun. Frustrating but fun. Sure, most balance related changes stemmed from trials, just like most now stem from comp. The game mode isnt creating the balance issues, it is just revealing them, and because of its "hyper competitive" nature it reveals them faster than the casual playlist where winning doesn't really matter. How long do you think it takes to find a meta, or a glitch spot on a map or a broken ability when there are hundreds of thousands of players trying their hardest to win?

 • 1. I said vanilla D2. 2. Trials was tournament where the top 1% exploited everyone else for fun and prizes while avoiding playing each other. It was an abusive game mode not a competitive one, by design.

 • Typo, my first sentence was supposed to say d2. Context my friend. As for the top 1% taking advantage of the less skilled... thats how a tournament works. Good teams play worse teams until they have advanced to a point where they have actual competition, how about a 32 team tournament example.. #1 seed plays #32 seed in game 1. Is that fair for #32? No. Not really, their likelyhood to win is pretty darn low, and they are usually weeded out early. If #1 and #2 played eachother in game 1 it isnt fair for #2 because if they lose, they will place in the bottom 16 which they dont deserve (assuming they are skilled enough to beat all of the teams ranked below them) In trials... early on you face a wide range of skill. Could be unlucky and play against the best team in the game, or you could face some first time players... As you progress (just like in a regular tournament) the competition becomes more stiff.... Your skill level (and some luck) determines how far you progress and what rewards you earn. Low skill players could still get armor, Medium skill might get weapons High skill get both and flawless.. Majorly skilled get scarab emblem Gods fight for rank or first flawless of the week.. Complaining about a system that rewards you based on your skill is just entitlement.

YES good players got the coveted scarab emblem YES they deserved it and was plain who had it. Same with “adept” weapons. Ok they didn’t have adept written on the bar but were essentially the same weapon and easier for a majority of the player base to obtain. Now top tier loot is locked behind 5500 valour points and 2100 is a single season. That’s not playing trials for an hours or sweating a few cards. That’s HOURS of been forced into competitive game modes against high skill teams now packing actually dominant weapons. You said yourself highly skilled players “get an emblem” not a god gun locked behind a single game mode.

 • Eh. I blame Bungies inability to separate nerfs in PvP from PvE

 • It’s not inability. They could do it. I’d say it’s more unwillingness.
