Destiny One-Shot - Into the City

So this is more of a fun story that I thought of one day, and decided it would be cool to post. See what you think. Also, my master post is here for you new readers: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/244734672?page=0&sort=0&showBanned=0&path=1 Me, Axon, and Varthon haven’t really gone down to the city very much. Obviously, there was the Red War, but… It’s best if we leave that in the past. With the recent passing of Cayde, I decided we needed a break. I brought up the idea while we were overlooking the city. “Axon, Varthon, you ever think about heading down there? For stress relief?” I asked. They thought for a moment, then Axon said, “It would help. With… you know. Let’s go. There aren't exactly landing pads down there, so elevator it is.” We went searching for an elevator, and took the one we found down as far down as we could go. Then we found another, went down. When we got to the bottom, we saw that we were in an area that looked similar to a reverse entrance. A frame stood behind a counter with a computer, while another stood guard, and when we stepped out of the elevator, the one behind the counter turned to us. “Hello! May I have your names?” it asked, in a usual Frame voice. “I’m Varthon, these are Ventharok and Axon. Ghost, help him out. Not sure he’ll spell your name correctly, Venth.” Varthon answered. His ghost went and watched, his blue beam going now and then. Eventually the frame looked up and said, “Enjoy your day, Guardians!” The door opened and we went outside, taking our helmets off and transmitting them to our vaults. We were in an area looking somewhat like a military base entrance, with two guards on either side and a sign which I looked at when we passed. It said, “Guardians Only - Citizen Center Entrance This Way.” There was an arrow which pointed to the left, where a path led off to where we assumed was this “Citizen Center”. “Let’s get to this,” I said. We began walking through this area, which was named “Light’s Rest”. A sign said that it was because Guardians commonly came here to converse with others or even normal citizens. Looking around, I saw a lot of things. Restaurants, stores, libraries, and so on. There were both normal citizens and guardians - some of them even conversing with each other. So that sign wasn't wrong - it’s for both Guardians and citizens. “Hey, want to go to that ramen shop over there? Seems like a cool thing to do.” Axon asked. I looked at where he was looking and saw a Spicy Ramen logo on a stand area, seats and tables by it. I swear, that thing was everywhere! And I will admit, Axon did start eating quite the amount of ramen after Cayde’s fall. I hope he doesn't feel worse from it, but I'm sure it will subside. We went over and the vendor looked up. “Hello, Guardians, what would you like?” I whispered to Axon, loud enough for Varthon to hear, “Want to see how our bodies would react if we ate the spiciest thing they had?” Then, to Varthon, I said, “If you’d like to order something else, go ahead.” He replied with, “Eh. Being an Awoken I’d like to see if my body reacts differently. Then again, I've never tried spicy things before, so...” I walked up to the vendor and announced, “All three of us will take the spiciest thing you have!” The vendor raised his eyebrows and remarked,, “Well, you three are certainly brave! I’ll get it ready.” We sat down at a table and Axon exclaimed, “We should come down here more often. Seems really peaceful!” I explained, “Most guardians don’t come down here because it’s hard to socialize with the citizens. I mean, when you've slain gods, it’s hard. But then again, I’m sure we co-” I was interrupted when the vendor came and placed three bowls of some VERY hot looking bowls of ramen, with some of what appeared like peppers in there. He set it down, went back to his stall, and grabbed some bottles of water full of ice. “Good luck. The water’s there for a reason,” he said. “Ghost, scan,” I said. He examined for a moment, and explained, “I see Carolina Reapers - the spiciest pre-Golden Age pepper, and one of the spiciest today - amongst some other things. Good luck indeed.” “Axon, let’s do this together,” I decided. We ate a bit. Immediately some of my organic bits began feeling REAL weird. I’m not sure whether this was because I was an Exo or because the proper things needed for the actual reaction weren't present. If this was what it felt like when you were an Exo, I wonder what normal people felt… Over the counter, I notice Varthon going to take a bite. Things were about to get interesting. About a second after he swallowed it I noticed his face turning VERY red. “GET ME SOME -blam!-ING WATER!!!” he exploded. He lunged for the water, smacked off the top, which sprayed water all over us, and chugged the entire thing. “Well… That's quite the reaction. I guess Guardian abilities don't protect you from that,” Axon remarked, clearly restraining himself from saying more. “Remind me huff to never huff do that again!” he said. “I told you good luck!” I heard the vendor shout over to us. We thanked him and went back up to the Tower. “Well, that was certainly interesting,” I said. “Do it again sometime?” Varthon immediately exclaimed, “No! I mean, if we’re going to do that again, then no.” I chuckled a bit, and we immediately launched into another conversation. We’re not just a fireteam - we’re friends. Whether it be saving the world for about the 50th time, or eat the hottest thing in the system, we do it together.
