A little story I thought up waiting for forsaken

Guardians aren't supposed to know their past. I couldn't help but learn when I woke up in the remains of mine. I woke up among the tatters of my old life. I was forced to see how I lived but not remember any of it. I wish I had never seen any of it. I am haunted by not only the loss of a wife and child, but by the fact that I can't rightfully mourn for them. How do I mourn for a family I don't remember. All I know is the facts from her journal. His name was Matthew, and even with all the advances we couldn't save him. The only chance we had was through an old friend. I had known Clovis all my life according to the journal, and only knew he was working on a way to live forever. Melissa didn't know if it was worth it, but I could not watch my son wither away in front of me anymore. I couldn't let him go through the experience alone though, no child should have to suffer that without someone there. So I underwent the "change" as Melissa called it. Her journal says it was jarring to me, but Matthew took to the new body quickly. The journals were short, to the point, and few and far between after the change. She was hesitant to undergo the change after seeing what happened to me. But I wouldn't allow her to stay in a dying body as Matthew and I never aged. The last entries I found are hastily written, she seemed to feel something was coming. She said I brushed her off but she knew in her gut (is it called a gut when it’s mechanical?) The last page just says it is here. What was it? What took my family and my life from me? Why did I get another chance, why did Syl save me. She says she knew she was meant to find me, but why not them? That was the crisis I struggled with when you found me old friend. A hunter with a quick wit and a big mouth, but you knew my struggle. You knew what it was to have a past just beyond your reach. A fellow exo lost in this world. You just hid it better than me. You helped me realize I was brought back so that they could rest, the world needed warriors, and they deserved to rest. There was some light in the world when I realized that. And in your words, at least I don't have to see them in the crypt. Now it is your turn to rest my friend, tell Ace all the stories you told me, well most of them. And if you see my family, tell them I carry them with me always. I will carry you with me always too. There is nothing I can do to those who hurt my family, but I will bring hell to anyone that stands between Uldren and my fury. This will not go unpunished.
