Rejoin Disconnected Comp Matches / Auto Mercy

Either in Destiny 2 or Destiny 3: 1) Please add an option to rejoin Comp matches like in CS:GO and Overwatch in the event of a disconnect. Add a small window so that if players are quick enough, they can rejoin to help their team. Too often, little errors pop up that cause us to disconnect. It comes with complicated software and a diverse range of hardware options. We want to be competent players. We want to help our team. We want to give our full effort. We want punishments for those that leave prematurely, but we do not want to be punished for things out of our control. Punishments that prevent us from playing even though we act in good faith but encounter network misadventures. Obvious weaknesses: People can grief by leaving matches and rejoining at the end. People that AFK can dodge penalties. Counters: Give us a small window to rejoin our teammates. Small enough that people cannot use it to grief, but a window just large enough that if Destiny 2 crashes, or we get beavered/buffalo'd/weaseled, we can quickly rejoin the match. It takes a few seconds to correct most issues. Less than a minute at most. We already have report options for AFKers. Case in point: The option to quickly rejoin a disconnected Competitive Match will prevent suspensions for those acting in good faith and give both teams a fighting chance should a disconnect occur. 2) Auto mercy games if enough players leave without reconnecting. Do not let the match drag on. It's painful. Especially since in Destiny 2 it's hard to fight "deathballs", mobs of players running together closely. It's not like Halo:CE - 3 where you could jump, dodge, assassinate, frag to kill shields, frag to disperse mobs, and outskill a team by yourself if good enough. It's more like Halo: Reach where you carry enough damage between your magazine and melee to kill one player solo before having to retreat and regain health. Add in bloom and slow movement speeds and encountering ambushes are more fatal. | It all encourages teammates to mob together and focus fire, also called "team shooting". Not to say rapid double kills cannot be done (rampage/power/smg hopping/etc.), but they are much less opportunities to reach them because of how Destiny's mechanics differ from Halo's. Case in point: The lone person in a comp match is doomed and at the mercy of the team that can either finish him quick or grief him for the next few minutes of the match. Obvious weakness: Network manipulators will use auto mercy to gain quick wins. Counters: Perhaps disguise IPs or consider more dedicated hosting services. ____________________________________ It will benefit you in the long run. I am not ignorant of the cost/benefits of your business and games. I know you only have so many resources to dedicate to a game far into post-launch with D3 in development as you guys hinted. It is probably too expensive and far too late to add such features to Destiny 2, but please, please, please consider them for Destiny 3 if not post D2F. They are common complaints I hear from many players throughout my playtime. These two changes will inspire more confidence in the community and help player retention. If considered for Destiny 3, they would be highly marketable mechanics that will encourage both disheartened and skeptical players to return for the eventual sequel. The fans are the ones that will be out persuading their other friends to buy it to play with them. They left because such issues prevented a rewarding experience. Persuade them to return and they will gladly persuade others to join in. You put a lot of effort into PVP but fell short in a few areas that you continue to correct. Do not let it go to waste. Competitive multiplayer is more popular now than ever since eSports' popularity continues to grow. Players want a challenging multiplayer experience to invest their time in. But it has to be one that respects their dedication and rewards their efforts. Give them that. Keep them happy and they will return the favor your community loyalty. Do not pass up the opportunity! Thank you, Bungie.
