Renown Rant (plus some improvement ideas)

Well, it took me about thirty seconds to become completely freaking sick of "Renown." Especially when I found out if affects EP. Look, I wasn't a huge fan of having this health regen system back when it came out in Nightfall...but you know what, it's Nightfall. It's supposed to be hard. Ditto for Heroic Strikes. I'd even say you could make an argument for having them in the Lost Sectors. But making it so EVERY TIME you do a public event, you get three stacks of "Renown" that trigger this -blaming- health regen debuff...whoever came up with this stupid idea needs to get hog-tied and dumped on a nest of fire ants. I don't want to have to kill EVERY SINGLE ENEMY in my path on Mercury just because my stupid health won't regen!! It's enough of a pain to complete the weekly milestone without dealing with that! A few solutions: make some way for the player to "opt-in" to the debuff. Maybe by equipping a class item specific to the faction or something. That way, the masochists can have their fun, and the rest of us don't have to DIE REPEATEDLY to get rid of this stupid debuff so we can run some EP. Or another public event. Or, heck, just walk from one end of the map to the other without dying or being forced to kill everything. Alternatively, does anyone know a way to unpledge from a faction? ...man, I miss Destiny...the first one, I mean. For anyone at Bungie looking for GOOD ideas, I always thought to would be fun to choose which perks activate in a patrol. Maybe do a Nightfall card setup for patrol, with various drawbacks/bonuses for the buffs/debuffs? Imagine running a patrol with DAYBREAK active. How fun would THAT be???? OR...bear with me here...every faction has a different buff you get when you pledge. Like, Future War Cult could have Daybreak active everywhere, New Monarchy could have a ton of heavy weapon ammo drops, and Dead Orbit could grant a massive boost to primary weapon damage. I mean, why would pledging to a faction make you WEAKER? That's just DUMB. Shouldn't the factions be trying to attract followers? Right now, I feel like nuking the entire tower into the next millennium. If anyone has any other cooler and/or better ideas, let me know!

  • OH YOU KNOW WHAT WOULD BE FUN?? Faction wars--you go to the tower and visit your faction rep, who gives you a special class item that greats a boon while wearing it. The boon would do three things: one, get a token for every opposing faction guardian killed; two, put a large holographic symbol on the back and front of your chest armor denoting your faction; and three, turn EVERY destination into a free-for-all (but only for guardians with the boon, that way people can opt out). Reloading the Tower would also turn the Tower into a PvP zone, but you could still visit vendors if you felt lucky. Or, y'know, you could just take the bond off. (Reloading the Tower is essential to prevent spawn camping next to opposing vendors, and with the boon active, you could be dropped into any section of the Tower randomly.) Friendly fire--shooting/killing at guardians in your faction--would lose tokens. You can shoot at non-booned guardians too, but it won't do anything. ...Bungie, you hiring?
