So if a Bungie employee came up and asked you to summarize your complete Destiny experience, what would you say?
This question came up recently when I was raiding and I figured it would be an interesting topic.
Personally,
"I like the Destiny universe. I like the enemies and how certain enemies are unique and powerful. Crucible I'll admit I like to win and thus I don't play that often because the gaming community I'm a part of don't play a single game. We play many and that is the source of our strength is being able to say that Halo has a much better sprint system then we do or the capabilities and storytelling of Final Fantasy games is unparalleled or the fact that Fortnite does a better job at getting people with mics together so we can laugh and make callouts better. These aspects are why we don't play Destiny in crucible a lot. Where those other games are fun and more in tune with it's players is where crucible consistently falls short.
My solution to that is simple: More gametypes, more maps, and more fun. Give us a reason to go back and forth from the various planets too for coordination. I'd love a fun IO map which features a giant loop around aspect to signal the SRL players who would say, "Oh, I can jump that." or "Oh, I can get up their with a sparrow" just to name one example.
PvE wise? I keep playing because of it. Like Heroic strikes and normal strikes. Like Faction Rally though, if it was possible, I'd actually like to change the landscape of the Tower. We've had season 2 pretty much come to a close and it is literally the exact same cosmetic tower. Show changes or upgrades or modifications in my opinion. Show progress. Make it a mini game if you will. If 10,000 acts go towards... a shield generator. Put in a shield generator. Show % of progress in case people are curious."

Thanks for the post. Reading through the OP and all of the comments now.

I absolutely agree that the tower should slowly be rebuilt throughout the seasons! When I first got the game that was one of the main things I wanted
-
I'd ask them why they're turning the game into Barbie Dress up

Edited by SnakePayne86: 2/23/2018 4:55:15 AMPersonally I wouldn’t want to bother them with a whole rant like I’m a spoiled child. I’d simply tell them that any ideals they had that involved us becoming less powerful guardians is absolutely the wrong idea of what most players want. We play this game to be something we may not be in real life, we play to be powerful. The nerfs, the lack of customization, the slow cool down times, the new skilltree, the 2 primary weapon system, and static rolls have to go.

Edited by N3wter: 2/27/2018 12:02:27 AMStarting with destiny 1 and that first completion of VoG as atheon crumbled into flames being the single best video game experience I’ve had. To grinding for max level then finding ways to combine abilities to bake strikes. Destiny had found a recipe for grinding then Powerful rewarding game play. Then enter destiny 2 and the complete meltdown of what made the game fun.
-
I would want to know how they ended so far away from a game anyone would want to play for years.
-
I'd walk in the room, look at Luke Smith, smfh, flip em the bird, and then walk out yelling, "Monster Hunter World bitches!" And then you'd hear Luke Smith yell back, "Phukk yea!"
-
D1: really enjoyed it. D2: while I haven’t written it off yet, my playing time has decreased a lot lately.
-
I'd say it's mainly been a waiting game, waiting for content or improvements, usually both. It's been about reading the small print, analysing what they said, and trying not to be disappointed because the result didn't live up to the implications.
-
I'd tell them d2 is so good I've gone back to d1, deleted my original warlock and started from scratch. Oh and yes its more fun. Can't really see a reason to log into this weeks d2 faction rally.
-
I'd suggest they look at where they were going with Archons Forge and introduce each planet with similar arenas. I'd hope they introduce a new race The story writers need to take a step back and be given time to do their job properly. The story in D2 is terribly inconsistent. When you ask Saghira what Osirus is doing in the garden during the strike he reanimated the Vex guy she says.. .. I don't know. Seriously?! The whole premise was we needed to help him defeat this enemy that was about to destroy reality and a week after we kill him he's rebuilding one of the bosses and they don't know why?!

Edited by HalfY: 2/23/2018 5:43:57 PMI’d tell them - I don’t have time to explain why I don’t have time to explain.
-
Clap in admiration of how they -blam!-ed up a game that so many people loved and had so much potential
-
Edited by Sturm with no Drang: 2/24/2018 2:01:40 PMI would tell them to explain to me their reasoning behind all of their decisions and why they thought it was/wasn’t a good idea at the time, show them all of posts in #Feedback and say to them “Look at it! You did this. Feel ashamed of this mistake.”
-
Why did you dumb down the game sooooo much? Why is the story so lame with weak assed bosses? Who's idea was it for the Infinite Forest? It has a good name as it's infinitely boring!! Why did you add a timer to the NF? Why isn't optional matchmaking a thing yet for ALL game modes? Why aren't there ANY new AI in the game? Why are all the weapons, armor and skills vanilla?
-
Stop trying to chase your tail. Admit your mistakes. Reboot this mess as close to year 3 Destiny as possible and go from there,

Short and sweet would be: Three years of most likely crippling addiction, of mini goal after mini goal after mini goal to chase, and getting lost in the lore (with the help of Youtubers) then followed up by crippling disappointment in a title that was supposed to improve on its predecessor that has regressed so far it is going to take to the first major expansion to get anywhere close to being in the same ball park of the first title. Well, content and I guess gameplay wise. Lore is dead and never coming back. The cannon comics are garbage and dont even follow the lore they put in D2, let alone stuff from D1. I get that the current writing team had nothing to do with D1 and therefore resent what is there and want to reject it and make their own but thats not how that should work. Build new stories, fill in the gaps, etc. Dont go back and ruin it all and put in terrible story and dialogue (does everyone need to be quirky comic relief?). The only thing close to feeling like old D1 is the Calus related lore. I cannot imagine this narrative team working on this title doing anything like the work that was The Taken King. Hell, I cant see this narrative team doing anything darker than "remember that time I stubbed my toe and dropped my ice cream" and that is depressing for what was and still should be a grimdark universe. Also when are we going to hear anything about why I should be excited about my next Better Devils? Masterworks and inserting a mod on an already gotten BDs isnt going to make me excited. Well, I guess it was meant to be short but I kept going...
-
Very simple. In D1 I was totally and obsessively hooked, I couldn’t wait to get on the Xbox at any opportunity. In D2 the hook was removed, either by accident or design the psychological pull was lost. Everyone can point out the present faults, we all know them, but it’s that magic ‘need’ for the fix which has disappeared. Until it is woven back into the game it will never recover.
-
Cut PvP loose. Concentrate on pve. More content. More story. All original and powerful emotive stuff. Player base will come back. PvP will then be a walk in the park to re-implement.
-
You have been weighed, you have been measured, and you have been found wanting. In what world could you possibly believe Destiny 2 is better than Destiny 1 in any way?
-
Simple why did you scrap 3 years of learning for this bag of shit.
-
I don't know why you guys thought I wanted this, but I never did: Who the hell wanted second slot primaries 4v4 was a huge mistake, I want to know why you did this? I never wanted supers to all suck compared to D1 Why did you get rid of the skill tree? The way you use shaders is atrocious. The raid design you made for D2 was terrible. Exotics are not exotic. Strikes are useless, why did you go backwards with them? Who's idea was it to use tokens? What were they thinking? Taking away random rolls was a huge mistake, Masterworks is not the answer. Does the entire team know that they took a good year 3 D1 game, and regressed in almost every category known to the game? Why are heads not rolling, who's fault was this? Are you happy the game's audience has already abandoned the game? What were you guys doing for the last 3 years?

I'd tell them that, at least to me, it feels empty. Hollow, somehow. The spaces are gorgeous and I love exploring all the nooks and crannies, but there's... nothing there, it feels like. It's empty. There's no reason to explore anything, anywhere. I'd tell them that it feels like class trees were put in solely because they were in the last game and the fallout of taking out the perk system completely for balance's sake would've been too much, that it feels like they would've preferred to not have perk trees at all. (this 'Path A' or 'Path B' crap ticks me off) I would tell Bungie, that after playing this game, it genuinely feels like they only made it to make money, not to make something they were passionate to see brought to life. To me, this game lacks any sort of passion. And it's a shame, because it had so much promise once.

Thanks for making two awesome video games that I've sunk 600+ hours into. I don't think number 2 is at it's best state, but I'm a rational functioning member of society and I understand that making updates takes time. I eagerly await the sandbox and other changes, and I'll be exploring my gaming catalog while I wait for future content. Thanks again!

D1 .... Some kinky freak nasty dirty girlfriend don’t give a F”CK it’s time to get down. Banging off the walls. D2.... married. Wife. Kids. Wait all week for that 15 minutes of special time. But can only make it through the first milestone. Now gotta pull out.

Good job, keep it up 👍
