• G-Eazy sounds like what would happen if a robot made music; It would completely lack emotion and be boring as watching a nature documentary about sponges.

  •
Logic +++he is alright imo. I could take him or leave him. MGK +++he has made two good songs and that's about it. wild boy and trap Paris. Trap Paris was only good because of the star power. Lil Dicky +++he sounds more like somebody who would help transition people into rap. I respect it but it's just not my thing. Run the Jewels +++they sound very early 2000s. That's fine it's just not what I'm looking for atm. Big Sean +++I like him. G-Eazy +++probably one of the worst white rappers in the game. I only like one song by him and it's only because it has future in it. I hate to shit on an artist you like but g-eazy is just a very bland and cookie cutter rapper. J Cole +++I like j Cole. 6lack ++++6lack is very good. I've been listening to him for a few months now. Some older stuff worth checking out: Dr Dre Snoop Dogg Jay Z Ice Cube Nas Ludacris +++I've seen all of these but I do appreciate it. Stuff to avoid: Lil Uzi Vert Lil Yatchy Chief Keef Future 2 Chainz Trinidad James Kodak Black +++I know I said it in a comment before but I had to check out the ones you mentioned. But I do like most of these guys. I especially like lil uzi and future. I don't like kodak black tho.
• My biggest issue with most of the rappers I mentioned to avoid is that they all mumble, so you can't actually hear what they are saying...not that they have much to say. Most of them just repeat the exact same shit over and over again, and just use the same word to rhyme itself. Especially the N-word. There are way too many trash rappers who do this. See this example. That's also one of the reasons why I respect G-Eazy and MGK so much more. They actually work on their rhymes, and come up with something to say. Sure their songs aren't as catchy, but they are significantly better in terms of lyrical composition, message, flow, and technique. That's also why people like Big Sean and Logic are so good, they demonstrate that they can change their flow up and make very precise technical parts throughout each song.

  •
My biggest issue with most of the rappers I mentioned to avoid is that they all mumble, so you can't actually hear what they are saying...not that they have much to say. +++ https://www.google.com/amp/s/theringer.com/amp/p/15bc3647dae9 +++ most of the ones you mentioned don't really mumble much. They do have some songs or sections where they mumble but it's nowhere close to the majority. The term mumble rap was just is really just a word created by haters who want to try and tear down modern rap. Are you saying lil uzi and chief keef are the same? What about 21 savage and lil Uzi? Yachty and Wayne? Most of them just repeat the exact same shit over and over again, and just use the same word to rhyme itself. Especially the N-word. There are way too many trash rappers who do this. See this example. +++the example you gave is a very poor one. It's pretty well know that birdman just rhymes the n word with the n word. I challenge you to find a "mumble rapper" who does this for the majority of their songs. Most of them rhyme just the same as any other rapper. It's not lyrical genius because the focus isn't on the lyrics. Take a look at a popular uzi song in the spoiler and see how even though the focus is the beat he still makes some pretty good rhymes
Lyrics You alright I'm alright I'm alright And my money's right I don't really care if you cry On the real you should've never lied Should've saw the way she looked me in my eyes She said baby I am not afraid to, die Push me to the edge All my friends are dead Push me to the edge All my friends are dead Push me to the edge All my friends are dead Push me to the edge Phantom that's all red Inside all white Like something you ride a sled down I just want that head My Brittany got mad I'm really her man now Everybody got the same swag now One way that I trap now Stackin' my bands all the way to the top All the way 'til my bands fallin' over Every time that you leave your spot Your girlfriend call me like "Come on over" I like the way that she treat me Gon' leave you won't leave me, I call it that Casanova She said I'm insane yeah I might blow my brain out Xanny numb the pain yeah Please, Xanny make it go away I'm committed, not addicted but it keep controlling me All that pain now I can’t feel it, I swear that it's slowing me (yeah) I don't really care if you cry On the real, you should've never lied Saw the way she looked me in my eyes She said I am not afraid to, die All my friends are dead Push me to the edge All my friends are dead Push me to the edge All my friends are dead (yeah) All my friends are dead (yeah) That is not your swag I swear you faking All these -blam!- wanna take my cake now Radar, at the store, radar Made somethin', look -blam!- take some Fast car, Nascar, race on In the club they got no ones, that we were baked now Clothes from overseas, got the racks and they all C-Notes, you is not a G though Look at you stackin’ all your money, it ain’t green though I was counting that and it's not 20, that's a zero She said You're the worst, you're the worst I cannot die because this my universe I don't really care if you cry On the real, you should've never lied Should've saw the way she looked me in my eyes She said baby I am not afraid to, die Push me to the edge All my friends are dead Push me to the edge All my friends are dead Push me to the edge All my friends are dead Push me to the edge
That's also one of the reasons why I respect G-Eazy and MGK so much more. +++ https://youtu.be/nuxmYZM4wOA https://youtu.be/afMOGoaN47o https://youtu.be/y_-hCctpCRU (go to 9:28) +++ their rhymes are pretty basic if I'm being honest. Mgk made two decent songs whereas g-eazy has yet to make a good song. They are both very bland and forgettable and they just appeal to pop listeners. They actually work on their rhymes, and come up with something to say. +++not really. G-eazy just kind of complains and MGK is just trying to make his albums dramatic. Sure their songs aren't as catchy, +++ that's all they make. Most of their songs are very cookie cutter and basic. G-eazy is just trying to take mixtures of popular artists from a few years ago and just kind of saying the words with no real personality. And MGK really only gets popular because of the features he has. Do you think wild boy and trap Paris were popular because of MGK? Or do you think it's because of wocka and quavo? but they are significantly better in terms of lyrical composition, message, flow, and technique. +++they absolutely aren't. If you just like them then that's fine. But don't try to make it out to sound like they are changing the game or like they have any serious substance. That's also why people like Big Sean and Logic are so good, +++while logic is clean with his vocals he fails to make anything that really stands out as being "THE SONG". Big Sean is good but he is definitely an exception because his first album was very good. But most of his other stuff has been about average. they demonstrate that they can change their flow up and make very precise technical parts throughout each song. +++homie, you shouldn't be impressed by that. That's just basic knowledge of music. All those rappers you keep away from can do the exact same thing. Just watch the video I posted on the topic and you'll see that lil uzi does it. All that is is just good production.
• Uzi's gen: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=U_IbIMUbh-k MGK gen: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Sj4UFcV5H5E Kendrick: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xfGYtX9Hc-k Aside from Kendrick, MGK takes any other rapper there, even Hopsin. MGK is far from my favourite rapper, but he gets a lot more respect than 21, etc. because he actually worked on the lyricism. And as for mumble rappers...well if they truly had something important to say, they would make DAMN (Kendrick reference) sure that people could understand them. While they don't just mumble, the point is that the focus more on making "cool" vocal noises (that sound desiigner makes) than actual bars. And also, don't for a minute pretend that Wild Boys had anything to do with Waka... dudes a hype man and he knows it. Still love him, but he knows his limits, and works within them.

He hides behind blaming everybody else and Ham fisted "messages" to appear like he can do more than what he is capable of. I'm sorry but hopsin gets no respect from me. MGK is far from my favourite rapper, but he gets a lot more respect than 21, etc. because he actually worked on the lyricism. +++but your trying to compare two very different rappers. The point if the current generation of rap isn't so much in the lyrics but in the production value. This generation of rap has focused way more on production value than any other generation which is a very good thing. And as for mumble rappers...well if they truly had something important to say, they would make DAMN (Kendrick reference) sure that people could understand them. +++but you can understand most mumble rappers. I've listened to plenty of them and they aren't tough to understand minus a few sections of a few songs. While they don't just mumble, the point is that the focus more on making "cool" vocal noises (that sound desiigner makes) than actual bars. +++because that's where rap was headed and it has finally arrived to focus more on beats instead of lyrics. They focus on it more because that's what this generation wants. Just because it's different doesn't mean it deserves less respect. I don't like mgk because I find him to be lackluster. Nothing about him really stands out aside from certain songs that had good star power. Same with g-eazy. They are just very bland rappers that don't have much of a personality as a rapper. And also, don't for a minute pretend that Wild Boys had anything to do with Waka... dudes a hype man and he knows it. Still love him, but he knows his limits, and works within them. +++but that's the only reason that song became popular. He may be a hype guy but when that song released I didn't see the pop culture memes revolve around MGK. It revolved around wacka and his entertaining intro. At the end of the day you can pretend to be as lyrically genius as you want but if it isn't entertaining then you aren't gonna make much of a name for yourself. MGK got lucky because of wild boys and g-eazy got lucky because of I mean it.
• I guess that is just where we disagree. If it was about the beats, I'd listen to EDM. When I listen to rap/ hip hop it is for the lyricism.

That's your opinion and that's cool. I just take issue when the idea of less respect comes in because it's new or different. I'll leave a short clip of everlast talking about mumble rappers. He hits the nail on the head. https://youtu.be/XE1sYCplPnU

I absolutely hate g eazy. And I love most of the rappers you said to avoid. I'm expanding my taste. I'm not looking to be an elitist with it. The ones you said to avoid are just the current and brand new rappers of a new generation.
