Who cares, I'm just waiting for Destiny 2

July 17, 2014. Me and my long time gaming friends got on this new beta after repeated begging from one of our members. We all installed it and got pretty hyped right from the get-go. The game was enjoyable and had aspects that we all enjoyed. Although we have lost many of our group between DLC contents being released me and a few friends kept it up. Until Late 2015. After many attempts to get back into Destiny, I threw in the towel. Me, the great Sunsinger Warlock. The crucible/PVP addict, had finally lost hope in Destiny changing. It just felt too similar to a job you know? It was repetitive and most of our group had left already. So I joined them, looking for that feeling again. February 16, 2016: I've been back in Destiny for a few weeks, after grinding back to max level I began to feel a little down on myself as I felt myself going back into the same old routine with the game. So I made a montage of my favorite moments. And had a really fun time with it. But quickly fell out of my routine in search of another game. Late 2016- Early 2017: Joined back into Destiny to find that it truly had changed since I had left. But change isn't a good thing in this scenario. I found that my favored Sunsinger had been nerfed in terms of its grenades. Frustrated I launched into pvp anyway. I wish I honestly hadn't come back. The Dreaded Search for Special Ammo. I figured no, there's no way that Bungie would do something this awful. As I found out that the reason my hand-cannon was great was because it had been backed up with a great Sniper. I felt as though Bungie was sending me middle-fingers and red flags. The game has changed now. Now the ones who reign supreme are the ones who became adapted to using Invective, and Icebreaker. But if you didn't have either of those, well you were out of luck. Your weak primary weapons didn't seem to help, so now you pour your heart into every grenade throw, and every melee. Hoping that this game hasn't devolved to just abilities. Now the game is unbalanced. The ones who survive in a regular deathmatch are the ones who are more likely to get special ammo and continue to destroy any and all guardians who are hoping to make their inferior primary weapons deal enough damage. Once you begin losing in this new meta, there is a little chance that you will come back. You will most likely continue to get headshot by sniper rifles when you yourself can't access any. It has changed every part of this game that I used to love. This, is the guardians greatest fear. But worse yet, when you get into an elimination game, every round your stockpiled special ammo just disappears. Nothing to do but bunker down and wait for more to spawn I'm begging you Bungie, bring back our special ammo for Destiny 2. Don't let this game end on a garbage meta that, quite frankly, not many enjoy. And please, think of your loyal guardians who have stuck with the game as long as they have. Back in year one people had hope, people would help one another and were generous. The game has turned us all from that happy go lucky players, to frustrated and overly competitive players. Truly, the light must be elsewhere, for these be dark times.

  • I know how you feel. The second-to-last Crucible change (also known as the Valentine's Day Abomination) made the Crucible a far more frustrating experience. And realizing that it wasn't going to change when AoT came out... I remember a distinct sensation of horror. And ironically, I speak as someone whose performance actually improved due to the changes: I had two Reign of Terror medals and one Slayer in the two years I played before 2-14, I've gotten three Reigns and two Slayers since (and a fair number of Relentlesses). But I have paid for that increased performance with increased frustration. Most of the time, I can't even use a Special other than Invective, because the loss of ammo is to upsetting. And when I do have special ammo, the object of the game becomes not dying so I'll keep it, as opposed to, you know, doing my job. The special ammo changes are more responsible than anything for my decision not to preorder D2 as soon as it became available. And, if I no ultimately purchase it, it will be for the PvE offerings. I've learned a bitter lesson about what our overlords in Bellevue can do to PvP!

  • For a casual PvP player like myself, this was the end of any crucible activities for me. Sure I could adapt and generally have good weapons for whatever the meta is but this most recent change just sucked any glimmer of joy I had playing PvP. If this is how they wantD2 then fine but don't make such significant changes to the game we've been playing for years. Destiny tuning is a perfect example of engineering over control.

I believe special ammo shortage was introduced on purpose to ease players transition to D2 in which special and heavy weapon slots are combined into a single Power weapon slot with, most likely, scarce ammo. I vote for bringing back special ammo because I am not interested in purchasing D2 at this time. Cheers, LEXX

    • NO MORE SPECIAL META. if you can survive with a primary and special every now and then then you need to rethink your strategies.

      • Woah, this is really well written. A tragic, but gentle story. I enjoyed reading this.
