*Support From the Sun!* (A Sunsinger PvE Support Build Guide)

Welcome Sunsingers! This guide is here to help you know what to equip on your skill tree as well as exotic weapons and armour suggestions, to best support your fire team in PvE! [spoiler]If you came here to use this build for PvP, you're going to have a bad time.[/spoiler] I made this build as an answer to Warlocks not really having a support class. So you can use this guide until the Devs decide to change the class again. ~Table of Contents~ 1. The Boss Debuffer- Stinging Sun 1a. Setup 1b. Mandatory Exotics 1c. Suggested Exotics 2. The Super Generator- Supplying Sun 2a. Setup 2b. Mandatory Exotics 2c. Suggested Exotics --------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Stinging Sun This is all about doing max Dps with your grenades to a boss, while debuffing it at the same time to allow your Fireteam to do extra damage with their weapons. While under Radiance throw your fusion grenades to give your Fireteam a 15% extra damage bonus from all damage sources! P.s. This stacks with Shadow Shot Start this build by giving it as much Armor and Recovery as possible while spec-ing for Discepline and Intellect. 1a. Setup Grenade- Fusion I'll explain why in a sec. Jump- Focused burst You'll want the speed. Super- Radiant Skin Max that Armor UNLESS You are running this build with another Sunsinger who is also using it in this case you'll want to use.. Song of Flame Pop your supers at the same time and feed off each others cooldowns. Melee- Flameshield Since you can't self res you'll want an over shield as an option. Perk 1- Viking Funeral This causes anything we ignite to take 5% extra damage from all sources! This stacks up to 3 times for a total of 15% extra damage! Perk 2- Touch of Flame this will cause our Fusion Grenades to ignite. When the fusion grenade first sticks to the target VF will proc. When it explodes it'll proc again stacking VF to two with one Grenade! 1b. Mandatory Exotics Starfire Protocol- A second fusion grenade. You'll need this to stack Viking Funeral to x3. Without it, you won't be able to get the 3rd stack before the 1st stack dissipates. OR Heart of Praxic Fire- Speeds up all cool downs while under Radiance. It'll be harder to do but at least it can be done with faster cool downs. Use Starfire if you can. 1c. Suggested Exotics Bad JuJu- Get that super. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Supplying Sun This is all about providing your team with orbs by using your own super and using your melee when you don't have super so they can build theirs up! You'll be an orb generating machine! Spec for Armor and Recovery again, as well as Strength and Intellect. 2a. Setup Grenade- Solar Push the hoard back and funnel them. Jump- Balanced glide You'll want some air control. Super- Song of Flame Help you're Fireteam by cooling down their abilities. Depending on which classes they're using, they'll need their melee and ability charged when they use their super to proc perks that benifit them using their super with a charged melee and ability. (Example: Stormcallers perk Transcendence. When you cast your super with full ability and melee charge, you'll instantly start to heal and your super last longer.) Melee- Brimstone Not only does this make your melee cooldown really quick, but if you kill an enemy with it, it causes that enemy to explode. Said explosion can kill or injure other enemies around it. Perk 1- Sun Burst Killing an enemy with ignite grants an orb of light. If you kill an enemy with ignite, and they explode and kill another enemy... that's another orb for you. That's right. Kills from Brimstone explosions also proc Sun Burst. Perk 2- Gift of the Sun 2 Grenades are better than one, and while your in Radiance you'll want to throw as many as you can for super kills. 2b. Mandatory Exotics- [spoiler]There are none! :D[/spoiler] 2c. Suggested Exotics- Bad JuJu That super though. Monte Carlo More melee's, mean more melee kills, mean more orbs from Sun Burst. Telesto Get a multi-kills with this weapon to generate orbs of light. Light Beyond Nemesis More Orbs from Super kills and revive teammates faster! Claws of Ahamkara See Monte Carlo Heart of Praxic Fire Faster cool down means faster orbs. Sunbreakers Two grenades for twice the stopping power and twice as many orbs while in Radiance. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Using the Stinging Sun, build my fireteam has taken down Heroic Raid Warpriest in one monolith. (With Shadowshot and Weapons of light also mind you.) With Supplying Sun I create so many orbs that my Fireteam is always "Super Ready" in Challenge of Elders. These may not work for you however I urge you to try and get a feel for it before you give up on it. Learn the play style of it first. I hope these builds help you support you're fireteam the way the support mine my fellow Sunlocks!   • I have some builds but good job here. I run the orb machine in all modes and I find it to be very powerful. I now also run angel of light with starfire. I get my grenades and my angel of light perk with agility.

      Nice work! Byf also recommended your first build with the exception of using fire born over radiant skin. I can tell you worked hard on this, and they are really nice builds!

        Honestly, using sunsinger in pve is a huge waste of potential. Self Rez is pretty bad. The raids are mechanic based so you only die if you are being very careless and reckless. Voidwalker is one of the strongest pve classes in The game. People just don't use it because they would rather sit on their self Rez in case they mess up. When using voidwalker they can use a hunger build with nothing manicles. Every melee kill gives them a massive chunk of super energy, heals them and regenerates their grenades. Every grenade kill heals them and regenerates their grenades. Every super kill heals them and regenerates their grenades. So you are constantly healing and killing enemies. Yes sunsingers can come back from the dead once. But the class is infinitely weaker than voidwalker. Voidwalkers are considerably harder to kill and has a much greater damage dealing abilities and crowd control. The entire subclass is like red death and you are constantly able to throw some of the best grenades in the game. People using sunsinger all the time is why people now don't value warlocks in pve and all the LFG posts are asking for defenders and nightstalkers.

        • There isn't enough variation in Destiny for any of the classes for a "Set up" guide. A "nutless monkey" could figure out how to set up each class.

        • I personally don't like this idea, I use a build that is based on all around AOE damage and DOT to melt the boss. I use max discipline and sun breakers to keep grenades going. With a little extra damage from two others, you can kill boss in around 30 seconds with the current modifiers in heroics.

        • I don't get it. How would people need this? Each class only has a handful of options. And nearly half of them are useless.

        • All "use your radiance" suggestions are useless. Best damage output would be with Sunbreakers and Tlaloc WITH your super loaded. Whatever else you would try you wouldn't come close to this setup.

          • you can do the double activate with solar nades as well as they ignite on hit without the ignite perk. so i use those as they are the better overall option during pve even though they do less single target damage. all in all a good guide, have a bump. *fluffs away*

              • I actually run the first build in PvE and PvP. Sunsinger is my favorite subclass and I main a Warlock, so... Yeah. I never really tried to generate orbs with the second build you suggested, but I'll give it a shot next time I'm on.

              • I genuinely think the warlock is the worst class to play (personal opinion, no "master race" crap), but of all three subclasses, Sunsinger is my favourite. Great advice, I'll give this a go. Cheers mate. Had the same on an earlier thread about Defenders, so always a good thing to tweak a supportive class. All I need now is someone to do one about Hunters and I'll have three setups to help on strikes, etc.

                  My pve setup ( super nade build ) Jump- focused burst Melee - brimstone Grenade- solar Radiant will >or sunburst Song of flame Touch of flame ( not sure if this adds any more burn or not but these perks serve no purpose for this build) Now where things get technical. Helm - ashes to ashes ( more super energy on nade kills) Guantlets - sunbreakers/hand cannon reload/increased nade throw distance or melee kills recharge grenades ( gives me a 2nd grenade and solar nades last around 8 seconds ) Primary - I suggest any hand cannon with grenadier (not to be confused with army of one). Can use other guns with grenadier but hand cannons work best with this build. Artifact - sisyphus project. This artifact has a chance to drop an orb on solar grenade kills. Which happens pretty frequent consider how long the solar nade stays up and how many thrall/etc walk into it. Most important max discipline. This makes your solar grenades come up every 25 seconds. And if you're using a hand cannon with grenadier and depending on head shots, it speeds it up to about 10 seconds give or take. With how many nades you are throwing mixed with the perk ashes to ashes you end up with your super insanely fast ( probably faster than using bad juju). And with all these grenades comes free orbs thanks to the artifact. I would use sunburst over radiant will for more orbs but I end up throwing more nades than melees so I'd rather have my super last longer so I can throw even more nades.

                    • For the DPS one, why not use solar Grenades with Sunbreakers that should appky the buff longer and more constant damage....or am I wrong. I always wanted to know how to use VF to support the best
