Why does a cap on primary weapon reserve ammo need to exist? If we never had to worry about running out of primary ammo (with the exception of the special-primaries, like NLB and Vex), would this have a negative impact on the game? If so, how? In a period where the game is so dominated by special and heavy weapons, wouldn't it be nice to have more reason to use your primary? Having to scrounge around for ammo (or dying to refill) isn't making the game more enjoyable, it doesn't make it more difficult, just more annoying. This bottomless ammo reserve isn't going to make people stop using their special and heavy weapons; special and heavy weapons will always be superior at DPSing bosses. In PvP, we could actually use our primaries for the entire game without being forced to use our special weapon or melee (or die) until we get ammo. If I try to play an extended PvE activity, like raids or strikes, using a hand cannon or auto rifle as my main weapon (using my special and heavy as fallback), I find myself running out of ammo pretty regularly. The primary weapons that you seem to want us to use in PvE have perks that not only allow them to have (essentially) unlimited ammo, but also never reload; these weapons will continue to be useful after the proposed change due to their possibly unlimited magazines.
