Was driving by Bungie HQ the other day after they announced Y3 Thorn.
Had to snag a photo of their new look.

1 ReplyI'm happy to see it return. Hope for a buff to the exotic perk though. Right now the exotic perk is worthless, and a legendary handcannon with similar stats and a good roll is a better option. No point in using an exotic when the exotic perk has been nerfed to the ground.

I went through the whole quest on my hunter so thorn has a special place because it was hard for me to obtain it. I was shocked that it four shotted people. Love the sound it makes, that could be my maniacal laughter though... 13000 kills with mine.

37 RepliesI don't understand how people are still so salty about this weapon.... It's been nerfed AND they are introducing an item that makes its DoT useless. At this point this is like breaking a dog's legs and getting mad at the fact that it can still bite you.

I feel no hatred toward this weapon even when killed by it. Skill is not everything. The fun factor is what rules my destiny. edit: So many salty souls you all just can't accept a solution that is not nerfing something. You guys can never be satisfied unless all weapons are nerf guns aka balanced? Bungie will surely give you that if you ask. how about some other ideas? edit 2: Thorn was destiny's poster child with the hunter in early destiny promotions it deserves more praise in its sound and design than salt. Its one of the most unique weapons that destiny has to offer if not one of the most lore rich. Hate is unnecessary and unwanted. Things come and go and thorn is coming back no mater how you feel. Its a going to spice things up again and thats a GOOD THING.

3 RepliesThere were many counters to thorn My personal counter was TLW and it worked perfectly. I have never had a problem with the gun. I don't know why so many people hate it?

6 RepliesYes! I spent so much time late year one using Athens epilogue and split shifter pro trying g to get this god damn gun and I finally got it...right as year two came out, I might finally be able to use it legitimately in year three!

i remember when i was one of the first who had the thorn after that freakingly hard quest line XYUR THE UNWED or whats shes called. The gun was total crap, you couldn't get any kills with it and that was when it had its old burn ticks like 7/8 damaga per tick and the insane sniping hand cannon range. So if they just bring back some old stats nobody will probably use it anymore.

I've been using Thorn all week specifically in preparation of its glorious return. I know it's barely half the monster it used to be (Day 1 Thorn, not HoW OP Meta Thorn) but I fell in love the first time I used it. I still remember when people called it a "trash exotic" then once they finally got their way, complained it was too OP. Hands-down the most prime example of why pandering to the Vocal Crucible crowd is almost always a mistake. I'm gonna have to start snacking on French fries when I go into the Crucible. Can't let all the salt go to waste. Lol

Honestly I was against it at first but the scars and post-traumatic Thorn disorder still feel fresh a year later. In reality Thorn is fine now. Actually a few more points on the DoT damage counter would be just right (DoT is laughable right now). I think the first week or so it'll be used a lot (depending on how we obtain it) but once most players have it, it'll die down.

People don't want thorn brought back because it was the perfect counter to snipers. The players that camp sniper alleys and hard scope the shit out of us have to much of a hard time countering this gun. I personally do t care either way... I do hate snipers and I'm no good at using them so again it's only my opinion.

I quit playing because of Thorn in Year One, and I guess I'll have to quit again. Thank God for Halo. edit - and yes, I really stopped playing for six months because of Thorn, this time I won't be back.
