I've been playing Destiny since it came out, and Scout Rifles have been pretty much the only thing I ever use, save for Snipers. Generally, I have no complaints about them. I understand they're high risk/high reward weapons, and that they are most useful at longer ranges.
However, there aren't really enough long range maps in standard PvP to make Scout Rifles ideal, unless we're talking about Combined Arms, and that's a rarity. Even when there are maps with long hallways or other things like that, most of the map is designed for short to mid-range. Because of that, they're more designed for Pulse Rifles/Auto Rifles along with a Sniper/Shotgun secondary.
I'm not saying that it's impossible to use a Scout Rifle in Crucible, as I still use it and am pretty effective. I can go positive most of the time. I just notice that there aren't really any maps that cater to Scout Rifles, and the ones that do are few and far between.
The only frustration I have is that, unless I camp, I'm forced into close range encounters with people using Auto Rifles and Pulse Rifles frequently during the match. Because they have a more constant stream of fire (Auto Rifles with their continuous fire and Pulse Rifles shooting 3-4 bullets at a time), Scout Rifles users suffer far more flinch, and thus it makes it extremely difficult to aim. Most of the time, I'll just run around the map and try to catch people off guard, because if a AR/PR user sees me first, I'm usually better off running away, unless I get lucky.
I'm not suggesting a map that ONLY caters to Scout Rifles, but just more maps with large, open areas that are ideal for that kind of thing.
Another idea, instead of making completely new maps, is just to incorporate more of the large scale maps in basic gametypes. After playing Clash/Control for about 3 hours a day over the past 2 weeks, I have never gotten into a game with a large scale map.
As I said, it's still completely possible to be successful with a Scout Rifle if you're skilled and you know how and when to use it. It would just be nice to play on the large scale maps more often so that I can really get use out of the Scout Rifle.

1 month ago everyone complained about mida being op, now maps aren't supporting scouts? There Are long corridors on every map. The only Problem i See is that these corridors Are getting camped by snipers.
-
They need more maps that facilitate Side Arms only.
-
Plenty of scout rifle maps isn't a problem
-
I find that there aren't any maps there shotguns are easy the better option over sniper rifes it's stupid.
-
Yes there are. Most maps are pulse and scout rifle accented. I wouldn't mind a few of the huge maps with sparrows to be brought back though.
-
Not a year one player I can say that for sure
-
So, buff snipers???? :/

Couldn't agree more. PR's have enough range to challenge scouts out to long mid range and the flinch is insane. Snipers dominate everything else. The problem it the maps are too small and 2D. You can't flank when one path has 4 guys with PR's and the other has 2 snipers hard scoping. This is exacerbated by the fact that you usually have one spot to challenge from so snipers just wait for you to peak and your dead. I never had these problems on the big open maps. I have over 20,000 scout rifle kills so this isn't the opinion of a newbie

I wrecked in trials all weekend with mida. I think it's fine..the game right now is all about map placement and team shooting / headshots
-
Bump.
-
They need to bring the large maps back. Bastion, first light, skyshock.
-
I miss the big ass maps you could use sparrows and everything on. Like the old control maps. Those were the best for scout rifles.
-
I wish they'd just put every PvP map into every rotation
-
The only thing I can suggest is to use low zoom, high fire rate scout rifles like Mida or NL shadow. But other than that, I agree with you. (I skim read post)

If you're going to shoot from long range, use a sniper. It'll work better. If you're going to shoot from medium range then you should use a scout rifle.
-
They took all the ones that did out of the rotation for some reason
