No Clue How to Pass 310 Light Without Help
Right, well, I've been playing TTK for some time (a bit late, but I just got the cash to pick it up, and remembered it) and I'm at 309 light with my best gear put on. From every online post I've seen, they say "oh, just get the highest light possible and you keep advancing!" I wish. I've been at 309 light for days. Most of my drops are FAR under my light, even 20-30 below. Even the higher ones are about 8 light under me. So I did the raid, and got a bunch of 311-ish gear. Cool! Advancing! Well I read somewhere that that was the highest normal mode raid gear goes anyway. Great. Well, then I see that hard mode can go up to 325-330, and I assumed this was the next step to becoming a great guardian. Well, turns out, it is. But I can't do it. Why? The requirement is 310 light, I hear you say! Yeah, turns out nobody wants to do a hard mode raid with a 310 light, since there are tons of 335's on LFG sites. So yeah, stuck. And I think I'll be stuck forever, really, without a generous guardian letting a slightly lower light player in. I can't even do the night falls or CoE since those are 320 and even if it was 310... Well, there are higher light players there. Would someone offer me some tips on how I can continue to rank up? It really seems like a dead end no matter where I go. Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section, it seemed right.
Edit: Thanks for everyone who has responded. Many of your inputs have helped me immensely. All I could find on google was ultimately useless "guide to 335 light" websites, but even in the one day after posting this my light has gone from 308 to 312.

3 RepliesIf you haven't already - add coxynator. When you see me on message me and I'll run coe or raid with you. I'll be on in about an hour if you're keen for a raid. Most drops will only be 3-5 light higher than your current - except for certain places like the raid challenge. Coe is normally easy to carry 2, this week it's a bit tougher but I can find a 3rd no worries.

2 RepliesI have 3 characters that all sit around 334 or so. Did the raid once on normal mode. Do about everything solo. It isn't an issue. The regular prison of elders should get you to 320 I would think. That and use of 3 of coins and doing daily bounties. it isn't hard to get leveled up these days.

1 ReplyHeroic strikes give you a chance of strike specific loot that drops at up to 335. 3 of Coins give you a chance of exotics up to 335. Challenge of elders gives you a chance of loot up to 335. It'll take longer to reach max level than if you were to do the hard raid, but it's most certainly doable. That's how I managed to get 2 characters to 335 and one to 334 without a single hard raid.

Which console are you on? I'd run the nightfall with you its actually pretty easy this week and wouldn't mind either running the strike play list or level 41 poe with you. Like most people said tho grind the vanguard and faction rep either doing all the bounties or using motes of light. I found the best way is using the vanguard booster (from sterling packages) a class item with increased vanguard rep then doing the heroic strikes. Each one gives about 200+ rep plus the chance at more engrams the longer you stay in the same play list, changes at exotics if using the 3oc and strike specific loot. About 10 strikes = 1 level but it always guarantees you something higher than you already have. Add me on xbox one HulkSmash051114 Also Google the 100 destiny. Sign up its for setting games up in advance but there's a lot of people who don't mind helping lower levels. a lot better than LFG who are full of 10 year old elitists asking for 330+ light for hard mode raid and 320+ for normal.

Do patrols, they give you the most vanguard/faction reputation per second and when you level up your faction it will give a drop thats normally better tgan your cuurent gear, and the drops from packages go all the way to 330 light, also you can get any item other than ghosts and artifacts which doing a challenge mode/totems gives you those

1 ReplyWhen my friends weren't on to play, I did a lot of patrol missions. I mainly looked for kill and grab ones. Leveling up factions isn't too hard now, just can get alittle boring and tedious. Always have a 3oC on cause if you get an ultra it might drop an exotic which you can keep or infuse. If you get bored with that, go to Court and if people are there, it makes doing it easier. Iron banana is next week, so if you can stand Pvp, that's a good way to get some gear. You got some nice replies from guardians willing to help, that will get you up fast, but when you're alone, patrols is a very decent way to go.

1 ReplyEverything up to Golgoroth is fine for a sub-310 player in the raid, but I personally wouldn't go further as you'll just be a liability as you die so easily.

I'm a solo player most of the time and what I can tell you is level up your factions, collect the packages whiles highest light, do Shax's weekly bounties, play Iron Banner, and pop a 3oC to hope for an exotic that'll drop higher light than you

Raids, CoE and even nightfalls will level you up quicker. Strikes are pretty useless unless you want strike specific gear. I'll help through CoE and nightfalls if your struggling for a group.

Try leveling up your faction reputations. I just got a 324 longbow and a 325 Devil you know from shaxx. And your vanguard leader should hook it up too when you level up with them.

I usually grind CoE cuz i've gotten some of my high gear from that.

PoE should comfortably get you to 320. Iron banana is on, rank 3 will grant you a 320 artifact, rank 5 will get you 320 ghost + 1 item that's 320+.

2 Replies310s can totally handle CoE with higher Light Guardians (325ish is good)..the normal KF raid will get u2 320 easy as well..try IB also..IB treated me kindly @ 318 Light. PS4?

For KF raid, it can drop 5 light levels higher max and the max for drops are 325 (normal)

Faction packages, King's Fall normal (Heroic if you find some willing to take you), grind strikes for strike gear and engrams.

4 RepliesI did CoE at 311 my first time, even with LFG randoms. It wasn't a problem. We broke 45k the very first time. That's definitely the best way. Or I guess you could grind the level 41 PoE. The chest gives blues up to 320 I think. Same with the Normal Raid.

If you are on 360 I'll help you. Plenty of ways besides the raid. I've got to 333 almost 100% from pvp. Do the trials bounties every week. Do the challenge of elders sigil weekly. Level up factions. Pop 3 of coins before every pvp game.
