If we receive a better exotic item which already has an exotic shard in it, why do we need another shard to infuse with another exotic weapon. For example, if I have a 335 Queenbreakers' Bow and receive another one @ 325. Then I already have a much lower 310 Telesto and wish to get that one up to 325, why do I need to use my exotic shards? Even more...if I have many 335 exotic weapons, and want to infuse a legendary item up to 335 that never need exotic shards, I should receive a leftover shard when I use an exotic to infuse a legendary item! I don't want to disassemble the exotic item to get the shard. If I do that, I can't infuse to another weapon. Makes sense, doesn't it? Bungie WTF!

Before TTK started I had about 50+ Exotic shards and now I have none. My light level is 334 on 2 characters and I am now out of exotic shards. If Bungie could make Xûr sell Exotic shards again it would help tons of people. Please Bungie bring back Exotic shards to Xûr's inventory

You need legendary marks to infuse a legendary so it's the same idea. Exotics are so easy to get there's no reason to bitch.

I have 30 shards just hanging around. I can't even use them fast enough. How do you not have a similar amount?
-
I agree. Or at least make Xûr sell exotic shards again.

its the same reason why infusing a legendary with another legendary still takes 3marks even tho dismantling that same item gives 3marks infusing destroys the marks, shards, and material parts that the infusion fuel would have turned into. don't want to waste those things? then only uses Blues as infusion fuel

I have posted this exact same question numerous times since TTK came out. Don't expect an answer, its been months and I have never gotten one. Maybe you will get lucky and they will pay attention and fix it.

Infuse it into a legendary so you dont loose the 310 light then buy a 280 from the vendor to infuse the higher level one into

good logic

Probably because it is far easier to get exotics than it was before Three of coins changes everything... With three of coins, almost any activity can yield an exotic... Crucible? Yes Normal strikes? Yes Heroic strikes? Yes Two of the three CoE Yes Bosses? Nightfall? Yes Silent Scream, wormsinger Yes Rune, and command Beacon bosses? Warpriest, golgoroth, Yes Shades of oryx in raid? Taken bosses? Yes You can also repeat some exotic quests on different characters (I know, not many people want to)... My point is that in Y1, it was nowhere near as easy to get exotics...it is far easier now...

Good question

I'm guessing that when TTK was released, they would assume that people would either; A) have a bunch of exotic shards in their vault B) dismantle a lot of their Y1 gear for the shards needed to infuse. I did the latter since Y1 weapons were pretty much driven to extinction. But yes, this is stupid. Shouldn't be any reason why we need to have a shard to infuse an exotic. If you wanted to quell any complaints about, "what do we do with our exotic shards now?", they could have been used to rank up Vanguard rep or something similar to what is done with Etheric light now. Just more dumb decisions not properly thought through.
