Purchase Armor Materials

I want to buy armor materials

That will ruin the game (for whatever reason)

I have 3400 in my vault cuz I'm a crazy grinder

I'm resurrecting this debate about buying armor materials. There's a real chokepoint here. I don't care what currency, and I don't care what vendor. I just wanna buy them. I read somewhere that when the decision to buy weapon parts was made, it was because weapons were often dismantling into motes, and that there are only 3 slots for weapons but 5 slots for armor, (meaning that there'd be less opportunity to get weapon parts). That was sound reasoning. Back in the day. But now, we have a totally new infusion system. It'd be great to "play" with this infusion system as I'm assuming the developers were intending: create different builds for different styles of play, make your character look exactly how you'd like, with the perks you use most. But the current setup that will take a LOT of grinding, which just seems crazy at this point in the year. (I know you can pay 750 glimmer for one green armor piece from the Vanguard; I just want something with more reasonable cost. The "dismantling vanguard greens" method just leads to the need for crazy glimmer grinding in the exclusion zone or something. Which is boring year 2.) So... who's with me? Let's tweak that thang!

  • Totally agree. I am always out and hate the grind to get them. It wouldn't hurt if armor also upgraded a faster. But then I don't have the armor parts to upgrade anyway so I guess doesn't matter. This would be the biggest quality of life improvement since selling weapon parts.

    • Lol I voted that I had 3400 because that's around the exact number I have but I do agree needs to happen. Same as exotic shards. Materials should never be difficult to get.

I am definitely on board. I only have about 20 Armor Materials to my name. Either they allow us to: -Buy them from a vendor; AND/OR -Increase the drop rate of blue and/or green engrams again like they did in Year 1; AND/OR -Increase the amount you receive when you dismantle an armor piece regardless of whether or not it's fully leveled up, you get a max of 6-9 Armor Materials versus what is currently in place which is 1-2 Armor Materials (Blues and under that are leveled up or not) and 2-4 (Legendary/Exotic that is leveled up or not); OR -Decrease the amount of Armor Materials needed to: a. Upgrade a Legendary to 1 instead of 3; AND b. Upgrade an Exotic to 3 instead of 10; AND c. Infuse to 3 instead of 10. This is what I think they should do if buying from a vendor in the Tower is not an option. My vault is starting to fill up again, but don't have Armor Materials to infuse the gear to as I don't have the time to grind anymore. The lack of Armor Materials is definitely a chokepoint that needs to be addressed!

              • I'm on board If I infuse it costs 10 If I upgrade completely it varies but let's say 9 like gauntlets It can add up real quick Dismantle and you might get 3
