Strength of the Pack ch. 21 pt. 3: Regicide
This chapter has some gory depictions. Those with light stomachs might want to skip this post. Nothing too extreme, but you have been warned.
"Ow!" I screamed as I woke up. I slapped several wyrms off of me and tried to crawl away, but my left arm didn't follow. "Oh, s***!" I began to cry in terror and curled up in a ball. Colt flew up as well. He pretended to puke from the display. "That's not right!!" I tried to stop the bleeding of my shoulder, but all I did was infect the wound with the dirt on my hand. Those wyrms ate the exposed flesh of my torn up arm... Now, they competely severed it. I kicked them away the as they came close. Some tried to climb up my leg as they screamed, those, I crushed. "Oh, God help me!!" I continued to slide away from the infinite amount of wyrms as I kept crying. "There's so many of these bas****s!" Yelled Colt as he tried to fight them off. They eventually went into hiding, some stayed to feast on my arm. I grew sick as I watched the wyrms. I grew so sick, I threw up myself. "Colt! There's no way we could even dream of killing Oryx in this state! We might as well join our team in Valhalla..." I said as I started approaching the edge of the overhang. Colt flew to my face. "Even I'm not going to accept that! If you're so sure that we're gonna die, we might as well fight!" "What can we do?! One step through that door and we're dead!" I yelled. "We strike fear in Oryx! If we even try to fight Oryx in this weak state, he will begin to wonder what a healthy guardian could do! Will do! And I find that worth it!" I sat there pondering on what Colt said. I wiped away tears that rolled down my cheek. "I don't want to die forgotten..." "I can't guarantee that we'll be remembered, but we can at least have the satisfaction that we paved the road to the King's fall..." I stood up as Colt gave me more cloth to cover my shoulder. I gave a very choppy, deep breath. "Do we have any weapons?..." "Um, yeah. When I was looking for help, I found this hand cannon laying around." Colt gave me a silver hand cannon, very futuristic in style. "Thanks." I checked the bullets, Colt gave me some from reserves. "I bet I look like a wreck." I said trying to force out a laugh. "All the more terrifying to the Taker of Hope." Colt said. Colt and I walked to the gate, bearing the symbol of Oryx. The gates slowly opened, revealing an arena in the back. I covered my eyes, we were exposed to the sunlight I yearned to see again. "AHHH!!" Screamed a man in pain. I looked to see who it was, and I did not like what I saw! My whole team was being tortured by Oryx and Phantom! "DAKOTA?!" I screamed. Both Oryx and Phantom looked at me. "Fantastic..." sighed Colt. I ran for cover as Oryx shot Darkness blasts at me. "I will draw him out, my King." I heard Phantom say. "Is this better or worse than we imagined?" I asked as I looked out for Phantom. "Let's see: Worse odds than first thought. But a reason to fight and live... I don't know." Said Colt. I looked around a wall to see if Phantom was coming, but I couldn't see him. "Colt, do you see him?" I whispered. "No. No sign of him." I started sneaking around walls trying to reach Wolf Pack. A Taken thrall walked beside me as I hid in a corner. It didn't look at me, but it seemed to smell me. The thrall turned to me and shrieked! "No, you don't!" I yelled as I shot it in the head. "Bet anyone heard that?" I asked. Phantom immediately appeared in front of us with his shotgun drawn. "Yes..." answered Colt. "F***!" I jumped over the wall as I heard Phantom fire. I ran for Dakota as fast as I could. "...Alan?..." Dakota slowly raised his head and looked at me. "Yeah! Long story short, I'm gonna try to get y'all free." I said. I tried to break the shackles with my only hand. "Um, Alan, what happen to your arm?" Asked James. "Wyrms." I said. I looked up to see Oryx swing the sword at me. "Oh, s***..." BAM!! I hit a rock after flying through the air. Part of my skull and my mouth was bleeding from Oryx's sword. I fell to the ground as I tried to regain my breath. Phantom grabbed my arm and dragged me to the edge of the Dreadnought. I tried to fight back, but I was still dazed and my head waved from side to side as I was scraped across the jagged ground. "Alinun!" Yelled Oryx. "Bring him to me!" Oryx stared at me intently. "My King, this one is not strong enough to fight in my army! He is of no use to me and should be disposed of." "Then strength shall be his final shape. He is strong in mind." Phantom continued to drag me, but to Oryx this time. Like Dakota, James, and Morin, I was suspended with shackles. Oryx held out his hand towards us and began draining our Light. Our life source! We lurched and screamed in pain! I could feel myself get even weaker than I was. Phantom watched us hang on to life. His frustrated gaze shifted to Oryx as he absorbed our Light.
