I see two posts often:
- make patrol areas bigger/6 people
- bring back old raids.
I had a what seems simple solution. We know bungie likes to use old/reskinned content which some people hate. I'm fine with it. It makes the designing part quicker and smoother.
So here's a thought. Open the raid areas to playable area in patrol mode.
Open the vault door, open the portals to the moon/Saturn raid. Then form all the bridges and such inside them.
Add some bad guys. We like bad guys.
Add some beacons to the areas. The same ones that are everywhere else is fine.
Create some public events. Even if the events are "kill the Templar" or "take down the warpriest" just have them be like normal public events where all they need to be killed is bullets. Take away the team work schematics. And lower their health. And just award the 5 mores like other public events.
It would be great to just pop in solo and run to time boss fight areas. Look around. Kill some stuff. Open some random chests.
Heck, even add a new "gold chest" and award some 3 of coins or something in those.
Maybe a new ghost or 2 to find.
Yes it's the same old content. But I would be content for a while. And I'm guessing it wouldn't take much coding/redesigning because it's allllllll already there. Just a quick free update like the April one. Raise te light level if you want. But I'm not even Guna go there. I just think it would be great to patrol the raid areas.
Anyone else agree? Disagree? Have an idea to add? Keep in mind one of the biggest things about this post is in not asking for NEW content. I'll totally pay for another dlc if I wanted that. But just opening up content that's here already.

Bump. #pveislife

Open up the entire planets as a whole on patrol, including raids. Every mission area should be accessible, and the raid idea is really dope. I like it! Please do this, I am a patrol whore Bungie.

I am actually quite enjoying patrol missions now that the update has made bounties/patrol beacons relevant again. It's a great way to close that gap on the next level for your faction AND vanguard! I do like the idea of having 6 man patrols as it would make CoO much more playable/fun IMO. It's more fun to play with 6 people who can coordinate than it is to play with 2 other friends and 3 randies that can't get their poop in a group. I also think raid areas should be open up for patrol once you have cleared the raid on normal. This would allow less experienced raiders to become more familiar with the terrain and raid layout without actually having to be in the raid with a full fireteam. Having spent hours and hours pouring over VoG and Kings Fall, I know for a fact that this would be very useful and fun for less experienced raiders. One thing I would love for them to do is scale public events and prizes difficulties to the average level of players in the area when the event spawns, as well as scale the health/armor/etc. to the number of players who are in the area. Make it so that if there are more people in the area, the event becomes harder and challenge level should be adjusted to average light level across all present players. The prizes can then scale based off of the average light level. So if you have 5 players who average 330 light, The public event can drop legendary ships, sparrows, shaders, 1-3 exotic shards, strange coins, 3 of coins, 10-15 motes, legendary engrams, vanguard rep boost or faction rep boost (different ones for FWC, DO, and NM). Obviously, it should be difficult for them to take down the public event boss, but it would be a lot of fun nonetheless I think.

Bump for cozmo again.

Bumpp

You sir, have my respect and deserve a bump
-
Bumping again, great idea.
-
I would be OK with this as well. to a large portion of this community those areas are still unexplored and could even be a gateway to more people playing the raids.
-
Not for me - sounds a bit dull
-
I feel like they should also dramatically increase the size of patrols generally, add deserted towns, walking NPC's that sell stuff, places like the DZ in division where there are stronger enemies and u can get good loot (no PvP though) and then add natural disasters. That would b so much fun
-
I like the thought of bringing back old raids, i for one LOVED VoG it was long and drawn out and only the true destiny fans would stay and endure the entire raid. #BringOldRaidsBack

Good idea

This sounds like a lot of fun. I'd love to go meandering around in the Raid areas just exploring the environment, even. I never have time to stop and smell the flowers during an actual Raid session.
-
Nah not for me, the raids are supposed to feel special not just a run of the mill part of the game.
-
Bungie will never do it, they're too stuck up to even say anything to you about this. If they even cared about us, they reply.
-
Anything new to do I'm up for, especially for patrols. People get mad about re-skin areas, but I think your right that since it's already there it shouldn't be this big thing to add enemies. Then again I'm not a programmer. Good ideas !
-
N1 idea, there should be much more to explore and much more "Bad Guys" on patrol in general imo. Put in more Bosses into the Gameworld, make them more powerful with greater rewards and update the public events (much greater diversity and more frequently).
-
If they made the old areas of the raid playable on patrol and have them reward the old raid gear as y2 would be amazing, not the guns but the armor at the very least. Each public event would be similar to the raid bosses, just without the raid mechanics, though the boss should have a larger health pool. Just my opinion.
