The comedy feels like typical lowest common denominator humor. Something I expect out of Michael Bay. Feeding into stereotypes and predictable jokes. It's pathetic.
Since they are redoing Ghost Busters with a female cast, why not have the black woman be a scientist? Instead of stooping to Hollywood bullshit racism.

Yeah like of course the only black woman is big and hysterical. That's not at all a stereotype

I feel the comedy is more slap stick, but with more physical shock than awe. Like a child's TV show obstacle course, but with less parental guidance.

Nicely put.

Probably because Winston wasn't a scientist in the originals, just an average working man. Seems like they're sticking with the same formula.
-
But they changed the formula when they went to an all female cast. So why not take it a step forward with a black scientist? I just hate seeing these racist stereotypes that Hollywood continues to shit out. Winston was sort of the token black guy but was, overall, just a regular man. No cheesy overacting.

But he also wasn't "You need Jeebus, Jeebus save us, oh lord Jeebus" every two minutes

No kidding.
