For the reason that software limitations are what made this game the way it is today.
If you look at it from a business point of view, Xbox 360 and Ps3 have limitations that the Xbox one and PS4 can easily develop.
I would very much like to see Destiny 2 only for the current generation of consoles.
Mainly for the fact that the new consoles can develop and manufacture more content.
Bungie has planned out what they wanted content wise, since 360 and PS3 were limited in capacity, they had to cut content and sell what they had as "dlc" which people hate, but you gotta realize that last generation consoles were very limited in storage space and capacity for dlc.
That been said, I would think that Destiny 2 should only be for Xbox one and Ps4 ONLY.
Hardware limitations are what hold back the game, people hate the content, but Bungie tries to keep the content the same for both consoles, rather then receive hate for "new console better content hate" which they would receive, which is why games like GTA5 fell off the hype train, GTA dropped 360 and Ps3 because of software limitations, now no one cares about gta5 even though that content is free.

Idk where you're getting any of this. There is 0 evidence that last gen is holding back current gen in Destiny. There are games WAY better in terms of graphics and that have much storage space on last gen than Destiny. I play on PS3, but I think Destiny 2 should be on current gen because it's [i]current gen.[/i] However, any claims that last gen is holding back current gen on Destiny are unfounded, ESPECIALLY on the fronts of graphics and cut content (storage space isn't an issue unless the cut content is somehow 100-200 gigabytes).
