The majority of complaints at the time of writing this is about SBMM (Skill based Matchmaking). Essentially people are upset about being put into matches based on skill rather than connection speeds and being put up against players of similar or higher skill in every match, this (Apparently) leads to players no longer being able to relax when playing PVP.
People are petitioning to get SBMM removed, People are arguing it's better since high skill players can't just crush an entire team anymore; Whatever you feel about it you can be sure there are people arguing about it here.
I have my solution to this problem and it's from a much loved game by Bungie; Halo 3. In Halo 3 (for those who never played it) when you went to play PVP you went into Matchmaking and selected from "Ranked" or "Social" game-modes.
In Ranked:
Lone Wolves: 6 Player free-for-all (My personal favourite for Ranked)
Team Doubles: 2 vs 2
Team Slayer: 4 vs 4 (3 vs 3 if only 6 players are found)
Squad Battle: 6 vs 6 (5 vs 5 if only 10 players were found)
Team Objective: 4 vs 4 Objective based game types
In Social:
Rumble pit: 6 Player free-for-all
Team Slayer: 4 vs 4
Team Objective: 4 Vs 4 Objective based game types
Big Team Battle: 8 Vs 8 Slayer and objective game types (Personal favourite for Social)
*There may have been more game modes but I can't remember since I never played once Bungie left the scene.
In Ranked you played based on Skill, Your matches are competitive and all about teamwork or personal skill. You had to focus on your matches to win and gain a skill ranking (up to 50). If you lose a match you could lose a rank and have to win multiple games to get it back. It was always tense.
In Social You played for fun with your friends or randoms. There is no skill based matchmaking in place and all your matches are about relaxing and enjoying some good game types.
Why doesn't Destiny implement something similar? Although Destiny is severely lacking in variety they could still make use of this matchmaking system.
You could have Ranked:
Team Deathmatch with armour + weapon stats Enabled
Team Deathmatch with armour +weapon stats Disabled
Control with armour + weapon stats Enabled
Control with armour + weapon stats Disabled
Doubles with armour + weapon stats Enabled
Doubles with armour + weapon stats Disabled
This would all be SBMM focused. Bungie could even add a ranking system that will unlock gear if you reach a certain rank so those focused and determined enough could show off some cool gear.
You could have the same on Social:
Team Deathmatch with armour + weapon stats Enabled
Team Deathmatch with armour +weapon stats Disabled
Control with armour + weapon stats Enabled
Control with armour + weapon stats Disabled
This would all be Connection focused with no ranking system in place so players can jump in to relax.
Players need variety; It's the spice of life. Being forced to adhere to a strict set of of limited game modes until released for special events leaves players with very little variety to do anything. This is the main reason I stopped playing Destiny back in December 2014 (Save from 2 single days I helped some friends), There was so little choice in multiplayer with only Slayer or Control to choose from. Salvage was locked until we were allowed to play it for a weekend before it locked itself away again (Thanks for giving us the only different game mode then making it temporary). I loved Halo and that wasn't a dedicated 10 years game plan yet it had far more variety in multiplayer than Destiny. Could you not add Capture the flag, Assault, King of the Hill, Oddball or any of the rockets only, snipers only, specific weapon only game types into the game? You could re--name them or re-design them to better fit Destiny. It would really add a lot more to this game!
You made Halo Bungie, we know you can make an excellent multiplayer shooter with variety, why are you not giving Destiny the same kind of variety?
I would even come back to the game if you added this. It's the reason Halo 3 was my favourite multiplayer game and why I played it for years. Please, I want to enjoy your game, I want a reason to spend my time in Destiny.

I'm not sure whether there are enough players to support 2 separate matchmaking systems. Sbmm takes quite a while to fill 2 teams at the moment and often starts with teams not filled. If a proportion of the players revert back to connection-based match making neither system would work: Not enough local players for cbmm to avoid lag Not enough players of the right level to get teams for sbmm I don't know whether they can expand the number of players for sbmm by expanding the sizes of the player pools (maybe with a bit of overlap for people who are borderline in a pool). Then they could add cbmm as a secondary selection criteria. With bigger player pools maybe the top tier can have less sweaty matches

Bungie's latest news says they are looking into SBMM which is good but this matchmaking system that I have suggested would make Destiny far better in my opinion and make me more willing to come back. I should also note that if this is implemented it shouldn't require DLC. It should be a free update for everyone to play. Thoughts?

Halo 3 (and 2) ranked matchmaking was the most competitive, challenging, fun and rewarding system not to mention most balanced game ive ever enjoyed. I have been severly disappointed in every halo installment since for seriously sucking and my hopes that destiny would be anywhere near as good are long forgotten.

Bungie probably doesn't want to alienate the community

YES, this is what they need to do, how can the company that made Halo NOT be able to repeat what they've done in the past?

I don't like bumping but I spent too long writing this just to have it get pushed down into oblivion by multiple posts arguing about the very same thing but without providing any kind of solution. What do you think of this idea? I would like to know if anyone thinks this would be a good addition to the game.
