WHO THOUGHT FARMING FOR ESSENTAIL ELEMENTS WOULDBE A FUN FREAKING QUEST?????????? THIS IS THE MOST BORING THING EVER

I have 4/10 solar thingys and im gunna rip my head off and eat it if I have to open anymore helium coils. The Solar Sword will be the only exotic sword I will get.....THIS IS NOT WORTH GRINDING FOR. JUST LET ME SHOOT STUFF

Edit: was Y1 player. Look at emblems. Didn't farm in Y1 for same reason it was boring imo. Make an exciting quest for the swords. I'm grateful that they are not RNG, but it's just not that interesting of a quest

Collect them using the proper ghost as you are doing your bounties and gunsmith test weapons. -blam!- around on your sparrow and shoot shit in the head; you can make it fun if you want to. If you just ride around in circles looking for materials it is your own fault you will become bored.

This isn't even a grind. Exo sword is laughable.

1 ReplyEdited by Fools Meta: 1/20/2016 12:19:38 AMMaybe, not many people know this but, you can actually [u]reset[/u] Material Nodes after already collecting them by leaving the location and immediately returning. - [b]This only works when you are the only Guardian in the location.[/b] - Material Nodes expire in 60 seconds. Which means that if you can find a few Nodes that are generally close to one another, then you could hit many Nodes in a single run, potentially cutting a massive amount of time out of farming. The most Nodes I was able to hit in a single run was 6. That is 6 guaranteed material with each run, and had the potential of being 12. I collected 350 Material within 30 minutes. Hope this helps. Use a Hunter with keen scout combined with a ghost that tags the needed element. Did it in about an hour an a half Maybe 2 hours. When ur dabbed out its hard to tell.

The trick is to treat it like you are actually farming for materials like you would back in the day. I was opening chests and killing random enemies and it felt like it didn't take so long

I did the random deal for a couple evenings before settling in and looking for people who were in search of the same sword I was going after. If I'm unavailable, you're on PS3, or you just decide to go purely with LFG, do yourself a favor and make sure you put that you are looking for people for the SOLAR sword. Don't just leave it at "trying to finish the exotic sword quest" I see that posted in the communities frequently. That tells me just a little more than the posts saying "I need help with a strike". Good luck on the end. The sword is pretty handy. :)

5 RepliesBungie would rather you spend hors and hours of grinding as a way of extending the game play of a game that they have no content for. Why do you think they cut 2 thirds of the content from year one when they released TTK. they cant think of anything worth while to do with this game. no mid Y2 content , must wait till year 3( and no I don't consider sparrow racing and Iron Banner to be added content through out the year with iron banner being a monthly thing) Number one reason why Destiny is dead for the 50 % of year one players that have left and will not be back. Content is sub par and Pong is better.

1 ReplyMan in a real MMORPG you harvest by days or weeks with very low %, in Destiny this is just too easy im already in the 3rd Sword im just waiting the Armsday, just do this quests when you dont have anything to do in the game.

1 ReplyHey, so... I did all three. Here's the real trick: You locate the number one best place to find the most of each material per spawn and stay there. You keep something with a pre-buffered episode of anime so you can watch that in between spawn times. You do all three quests on a Hunter. The kills get annoying when you need solar kills on a Gunslinger, but with Keyhole, Combustion, and Incendiary grenades on the Thrall in the you-know-which mission, it's easy enough. Anyway, you just do all that and it's real easy. Not necessarily as fast as it could be, but it still is a lot better than stressing over it like this. Besides, it's not like you're in the middle of doing the Sleeper Simulant quest. I'm not sure which is worse, gathering materials or waiting for days and days to finally have that piece of crap Gunsmith give me the next part of the quest... It's been a week now!

I just did all three in the last two weeks (I had been putting it off until now). It was brutal. Mars was the worst imo, but 2 hours or more each. Then you need to get all the kills...

I've already done it twice for the void and arc sword, now I wait til Wednesday. I don't want to do the solar but I probably will, that shit took forever.

No one on earth mars or Venus ok,D this. It was clearly a last ditch effort by the wardens of aluk hul. They hoped that every guardian would just up and quit when they saw all the ridiculous waiting and grinding that went into that quest.

Mars seemed to take a hell of a lot longer than the moon, but it's all done all the same. My last 5 took 114 relic irons to find.

7 RepliesThe grinding mats part wasnt that bad for me... My biggest cry moment was doing the void kills on my titan. Ugh. Only grenades and melee counted. It took FOREVER! Solar and arc not so bad... But don't do void on your titan!

The trick is the ghost shells. You can get a ghost for ever material. They point them out especially if you use the scope on a sniper rifle.
