I was debating whether I should pick up the Evolve Ultimate Edition for $35 or not. Any thoughts or feedback on the game?

Edited by Paul Badman: 1/18/2016 11:43:11 PMAh yes evolve. It falls into those sad games that fundamentally aren't bad but lack some content and are hated for no reason. Should you get it? Yes. For $35? No
-
No. Way too expensive

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. It was on sale at my local GameStop for $5 a couple of months ago. That game is a piece of shit failure.

Edited by Schostoppa: 1/17/2016 8:30:49 PMAt 39.99 the ultimate edition is a steal. 5 monsters and 20 hunters. That huge amount of variable gameplay with that. Allow me to expand on the ignorance of everyone chiming in when they played it when it first came out and havent played it since.... Yes when it first came out there were huge balance issues. Those have largely been fixed. Matching has improved as well. Now they use a ranking system similar to Starcraft. Bronze, silver, Gold tiers. So now you play against similar skilled players. Although to be fair the player base is small. So it can take a little bit to load a game. If you have friends that want to play that will minimize the wait. Or join the community and set up games like you would a raid for destiny. Turtle rock has released all new maps and gamemodes for FREE. That was the plan since launch and they have kept thier promise. There are ZERO paywalls. As a hunter you can fight against ALL monsters. Not just the ones you have paid for. So for example if you dont own Gorgon you can still him. Just cant play as him. Same thing goes for being the monster. You can play against ALL hunters. Not just ones you own. The game got a bad wrap for DLC at launch. There was season pass, and skins. People were pissed. Dont know why. Its honestly a better DLC set up than CoD or Destiny. Also to help offset the cost of skin DLC every weekend there is a community goal for a specific hunter or monster. If the community succeeds everyone who played that weekend gets the skin free as a reward. All in all its a definatly different style of game. Its an original concept that got shit on early. Fair warning there is a bit of a learning curve. So try not to get frustrated and research tactics online. But ive had tons of fun with it. Still jump on every once in a while and have a blast everytime. I do wish there was a story but seems like very few games these days have story so whatever. I would honestly say there is more replayability and unique gameplay than battlefront. my newest regretful purchase.

No. Horrible game.
-
Edited by CrunchyBroth: 1/17/2016 8:30:17 PMNo the whole game is riddled with paywalls
never mind
-
Its worth about 15 max. Thats only if you like it.
-
Honestly no There was a sht load of potential here But ultimately the game is not fun to play Too many variables have to align in order for a match to be enjoyable
-
35 bucks?! You could buy a better, be it older game with that amount of money.
-
Depends. If you like games that are difficult to learn then yeah. If you like games that hold your hand then no.
-
Dude I would stay away. It's not great. I paid 5 uk pounds for it and to be honest that is all it's worth. It was a dlc experiment that failed !!
-
That game was torn apart by the micro transaction train
-
If your friends have it, it is probably worth it
-
If it was $5 maybe.
-
I would not reccomend it. While fun, the matches lack a lot of variety, and will get very stale very quickly.
-
If gaben unleashes a holy shower of steam sales than pick it up for like 5 dollars. But i dont think it would be worth mor than that
-
Pick it up and throw it out the window.
-
NO! GOD NO! SPARE YOURSELF THE TORTURE!
-
No worse money ever spent
-
If you think It'll be fun for the 35 players still playing it. Hahahhahahaha. And the are still charging for dlc lol. Game is fun with friends. But along it gets stale FAST and with no changes at all to the payed monsters and classes even if they are OP I don't see it surviving much longer lol.
-
I've never played it but I've heard no one plays it like at all anymore.
-
Eww no. It's a perfectly fine fun game with a lack of content and a price drop. Obviously terrible
-
Just don't; theres a reason why its on so many people's worst/most disappointing games of 2015. Even i bought it when it came out; and stopped playing it completely after a month. Theres no content, and all that there is content is locked behind dlc that is absurdly overpriced. Like prices that should be outlawed. You'll be doing the same thing depending on who you're playing with. Its essentially one game mode.
-
All the people here that said not to just didn't play it the fun way. I agree, the main servers get really boring, but if you host a non dedicated server with fixed settings, the game becomes way more enjoyable.
-
I still play and enjoy it. Last time I games I played evolve for a few hours and had a blast. I usually jump in to quick play as defend mode is heaps of fun. Hyde is awesome who wouldn't want to run with a flame thrower and minigun?
