I think these PS2 games are just like the 360 arcade games but for PS4. Like Beyond Good and Evil HD, added achievements and upgraded the graphics from the Xbox Original game. Seems a bit hypocritical when Sony management laughed when Xbox One brought in backwards compatibility for 360 games. Sony were even quoted something along the lines of they were looking forward to the future rather than looking back to the past. So now they re-release PS2 games? Certainly that is looking towards the future....' Seems a little off that those that already own the games have to pay again, yes there is added trophy support and better resolution but they are not remastered. They have the choice to buy it again I suppose but I think it should be free if they still own it. Be nice if Sony would do backwards compatibility for PS3 games on PS4, thing is they have no need to as Sony can charge people to stream games they may already own on PS3 on PS4 via PS Now. Seems wrong in my book ={ Edit: Sure the usual fanboys will make excuses for Sony, same ones that say Microsoft bringing out BC for free was a bad thing. There are some stupid people around sadly that are so blind they make excuses for themselves being treated as cash cows. Oh well...

The reason why they're doing this is because Xbox one's BC was actually proven popular and their PS Now sucks.
Yep
Seems a bit hypocritical when Sony management laughed when Xbox One brought in backwards compatibility for 360 games.
Nope. This isn't backward compatibility, it's selling better versions of older games. Like the ones you mentioned above.
Sony were even quoted something along the lines of they were looking forward to the future rather than looking back to the past. So now they re-release PS2 games? Certainly that is looking towards the future....'
They said people always ask for BC with new consoles, but their statistics show it is rarely used. I guess they just thought there were enough people who have never played PS2 games and would buy some of the classics. But yes, that was a stupid statement to say they are looking forward and still do this.
Seems a little off that those that already own the games have to pay again, yes there is added trophy support and better resolution but they are not remastered.
You are right, people have the choice to buy an upgraded version or not if they already own it. Choice is good. Why you think it should be released for free after all the enhancements and additions I don't know though. It's not like this is just a straight port that you are likely to be able to play on a system you just have lying around. This actually has added value. Great for those who don't have a console but have s smart TV or PC, but you would have to be some type of stupid to pay $100 for a year of streaming games you own. Who would even consider such a thing?
