Xbox One headset

After about 6 months of use my cheap Xbox one headset stopped working. I can hear others, but they can't hear me. So now I'm looking at getting a nicer over the ear headset and I'm curious to hear everyone's opinions. I want something that is obviously good quality and the best value. Is the 7.1 surround really worth it, does it make that big of a difference? What brands do you like? What should I look for in a headset? Just curious about your thoughts. I really only play fps's and would love to be able to use the headset so I can mute the tv. Thanks

    • I purchased turtle beach X07 headset. I was in the same boat, I was thinking of dropping some money on a headset but I went all out and bought a pair I would be overall happy with. The bass on them is amazing, when bombs go off in game you can feel it. When I put them on with no sound, you can't hear anything around you. You can detach the mic to it so you can wear it out and not look like a tool if you want to listen to music. The mixer on them is great, you can balance chat and in game sound really well. You can game with full sound with someone sleeping next to you and not bother them, or if you just want to tune your GF out and get really into the game. Leather ear pads are comfy. If you have the extra cash I would buy a high end one, I mean if your already going to spend 100, spending another 50 for a higher end one is going to make a huge difference. I wanted a pair with mad bass so I went all out.

Your best option is getting a pair of quality studio headphones and attaching a separate mic to them, such as the ModMic 4.0. 7.1 surround sound in headsets/headphones is pretty pointless to be honest, it's more of a marketing ploy than anything. A pair of open-back headphones will give the same effect as surround sound since they have such a large sound stage.

        • Buy the headset adapter for $30. Buy standard ear phones with calling capabilities for $15. I shit you not, this actually works. I still have my default mic but once it dies I'll be switching to my ear phones.

        • Its worth it just take note the chord is long and can get caught on stuff. Also it has 2 volume sets for chat and tv audio so may have play around to figure it out. Also the cusion can warm up your ears.
