Apparently most of you don't know what the destiny database really is. Ever heard of "datamining"? It's when someone or a group of people who are not affiliated with a company dive in to a software's coding and pull out information hidden in it. Essentially that's what this database is, a collection of datamined items found in destiny's coding. All these items you see here (with a few exceptions because OP isn't as well-versed in this game as some of us are), are prototype items that Bungie tested and eventually scrapped. That's what you have to remember: everything that Bungie tests in sandbox is put in the game coding, therefore is viable to datamining. These items most likely were never in the actual game from the start. Notice how these items have no symbol on the top right corner of the image. This signifies that they were developed before or during vanilla destiny. It could also be said, however, that some of these items inspired actual in-game items that we see today. For example, the exotic weapon core could have been reworked into the ikelos fusion core for the sleeper stimulant quest, and the exotic armor shard might have either inspired the exotic shard material, or quite possibly the glass needles that xur sells. The vex raid item might have been the VoG material, and then changed to shards and energy. We may very well see more of these items be incorporated in some way or another into the game in the near future.

  • They don't dive into the coding. The query the database.

Maybe, but why haven't they been found before if they're not new?

  • Because OP took the time to look through the database. Have you ever even been on the destiny database before? Most people don't even use the armory on this website, so it's safe to say that they probably didn't even know this database existed.

I think you have misunderstood. I am not saying these things don't exist I'm saying they are new so hopefully will be put into the game. Others think they've all been around since the 1900's but I haven't seen most of them referred to before.

You're rather daft, aren't you? I'm saying that nobody has heard of these items yet because very few people actually look around in the database, and even less find the need to make forum posts about what they find. I'll ask again, have you personally ever looked extensively through the destiny database? I'll assume the answer is no. The items and the datatbase have existed since week 1 of destiny, but how are people going to hear about them if they don't even know they exist? Here's another question: remember when people started talking about 330 exotics? Were you aware of them before the forum posts came or after? Did you actually go to the armory and look at them or did you take their word for granted? Something else: have you noticed yet how in the armory all the exotics were changed back to 310? No forum post has been made on it yet, but I actually went to the armory and looked at them. The answer is simple. You, just like 90% of the Destiny community, are very ignorant when it comes to things outside the actual game. Maybe if you had been invested enough to actually go look at the database instead of just relying on the forums to provide that information to you, you would've known about these items earlier.

Ummm, ok. I don't look in the database I wait for pricks like you to do that for me then read about it. And I haven't read about it before. That is what I said in my first post. You may have been wanking over the database for months (in between stuffing your fat face with pot noodles and wishing you didn't live in a bedsit) but I haven't.

  • Lol no need to get butthurt about it. You asked a stupid question and I answered it. It's your own problem if you can't be bothered to look at the database, but don't come here asking sh*t like that then. Btw I'm probably a lot healthier than you are ( I only weigh 140 lbs), so making assumptions about my lifestyle won't make you look any better. I don't need months to look at the database, more like 10 minutes. "I haven't read about it in the forums so it must be new, right?" You're embarrassing yourself.

You come across as a complete dickhead. I don't give a monkeys that you spend your time trawling through a database of a GAME. If I haven't seen something before then I can say I haven't seen something before. Got it? Now -blam!- off back to your bedsit.

  • Well, they were there. At least as far back as a year ago. Same goes for those Specific Enemy XP boosters that everyone was so worried were added in as microtransactions

Not found IN the game, not found in the datamine. I haven't seen the majority of these things referred to before.

Yes and salty engram was in festival of the lost. But the camera that looks back in time? I haven't seen that or most of the others referred to before.

  • I saw a video where a guy was going through the database during the HoW. Not exactly mainstream youtuber but he had some interesting thoughts.
