*cringe* just because someone who wears a bible verse on their headband loses a race DOESNT MEAN THEIR BEING OPRESSED FOR THEIR BELIEFS
ITS A RACE
WHO EVER WINS WINS
WHO EVER LOSES LOSES
BIBLE VERSES HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT
THE RACE DOESNT ALLOW ANY FORM OF WRITING ON HEADBANDS(stupid rule but still)
THE RACER WASNT BEING TARGETED FOR THEIR BELIEFS

If anyone is familiar with cross country they should know to do exactly what the officials say no matter what. They don't mess around. He also had to have matching clothes with his teammates if he even had any.

Every single vehicle I own gets a big red stripe down it. Because red makes things go faster. Because my people and I believe this, it makes it fact. And if you disagree with us we will kill you.

Oh, how I have lost all of my faith in the human race altogether ^__^

Those officials should be fired. They cleared him to run and disqualified him for no reason that hadn't already been addressed. What a bunch of clowns.
-
He didn't lose, he got third which is a podium finish, quite respectable. He was then disqualified for having text on his headband. Does seem like the officials went a bit overboard because he did supposedly turn it inside out in compliance but I don't think it had to do with religion. I can totally understand the rule too, text on someone's head to someone behind or beside him would be hella distracting, but still...
-
Yeah. Anyone would have been disqualified regardless of the text. They just want to turn everything around to focus on the "war on Christianity".
