Foul language is one of the many things that ruins the gaming experience and until now, nobody could really do much to regulate in-game chat. But with the xbox one and the playstation 4's voice recognition technology, bad language can be detected and met with a penalty as demonstrated in this video..
In Destiny, players should be kicked from the game every time they swear and put on a 5 minute time out box in which they would be unable to join any matches. The penalty will double every time they break it:
1st foul: 5 minutes
2nd foul: 10 minutes
3rd foul: 20 minutes.
4th foul: 40 minutes
5th foul: 80 minutes and so on.
This would be a great deterrent for foul language. And the best part? If you want to swear, then don't use the microphone or the kinect.
EDIT: Apparently there is some misunderstanding about freedom of speech. The first amendment says that government cannot regulate free speech. This amendment does NOT apply to corporate services such as xbox live and PSN. If they want to crack down on profanity, they have every right to do so. In fact, both Microsoft and Sony are removing streams that have excessive profanity. Food for thought.
Second EDIT: A few people have brought up the fact that the ESRB does not regulate online interactions. This is quite irrelevant, as they are only responsible for reviewing the game content. That would be like somebody saying the FDA does not regulate electrical installations as an argument against electrical safety. It is completely irrelevant.
