Bungie please read! Proposed solution to primary elementals

We would like primary elementals. Bungie doesn't want us to be limited to a small number of guns to use, and want us to use our specials and heavies. What they need is to make artifacts that give your primary a chance to change to a specific element each PvE spawn. If u die you have a chance to lose it or get it back. That way we would want to collect at least 3 artifacts per character and artifacts would seem useful. We get our chance of elementals. We could use any primary we want.  And they get their chance of making us use our specials and heavies for taking down sheilds. Win f'ing win. Could even make them exotic artifacts and have a cool story quest to get them. Anyone agree?

  • This brought to mind yet another idea: A consumable or doodad from Xur, call it Elemental Modulator, which you consume to make your primary match the elemental type of your [i]currently selected[/i] subclass. The burn lasts as long as you have the subclass active; it expires when you switch subclasses. If you're the kind of person who runs pretty much Subclass X, then your primary will always have that burn. If you change it up, you need to use another Elemental Modulator to reattune your gun.

    • The only year 2 primary with elemental damage is the supercell. So maybe they will implement more primary elemental guns later (hopefully).

    • That or maybe something that is as coveted as elemental primaries but not that in design. I don't think they want to step in that direction at all anymore considering, and I don't blame them. However I do see value in something to shoot for it's just about figuring what that might be.

    • How about just giving the artifact the ability period? You could have arc, solar or void damage applied to any primary(non-elemental) weapon. You would be changing your artifact around a lot to get a little help with overshields during like a nightfall but you would have the ability use your favorite weapon with your preferred element when you wanted. Personally I love having solar weapons myself. My Nerwins Mercy with solar damage? Yes please!! Even my NM auto rifle with solar would be beast for me!!

    • Just make it a temporary consumable, something akin to telemetry. "Golden Age Solar Magazine" or something.

    • I like this. It gives the artifacts, which currently are some of the most useless pieces of equipment ever, some cool effects.

    • Yup. So many games allow modificatiins to weapons... Maybe its a consumable. Maybe its attached to a ghost shell or faction item. Maybe its an unlockable perk on some weapons where you pick one- making duplicates of a weapon useful for other elements. So many solutions. There is little need to do away with them.

      I miss elements. But love trying out a shit ton of new guns each week. I didn't really like being stuck with fatebringer or visions (tho I loved them don't get me wrong) . I really liked other guns, (like my hopscotch or shadow)  but couldn't always use them because of the need for an element. An artifact that adds a chance for an element to any gun. It's F'n perfect lol. ! Help me get this trending, Please ?

    • The stated reason for not having elemental primaries is that too many people used them, but when you evaluate that it is false. People used fatebringer and Voc because they were good weapons. Skolas also dropped elementals, but nobody used them because they had poor stats. Now, everyone uses the raid weapons. I don't understand Luke Smith's reasoning.
