Yeah.
The game gives me a quest step to dismantle rare or legendary sniper rifles. 10 "parts" worth.
Then it lets me binge over 4 hours of heroic strikes, without giving me even a SINGLE sniper rifle from drops or engrams. Not one single, solitary one.
Plenty of shotguns and fusion rifles and machine guns and scout rifles and auto rifles ... not ONE SINGLE SNIPER!
Hey, Bungie! Did you actually intend this quest to cost the player a bazillion legendary marks to buy the necessary items from the Vanguard or Faction dealers? Or is your loot drop system just that broken?

I had the same problem with my warlock, so I switched characters and had no problem with getting what I needed, then I put all in the vault and switched back.
-
Use a diifferent toon too collect them for your quest thats what i do
-
A blue gives 2 and a legendary gives 5. Either 2 year 1 snipes you didnt want. The gunsmith sells legendary snipers but gotta wait till Wednesday
-
Most people had year one weapons that count as 5 blues pretty much
-
Gunsmith someone will add the function to look for snipers instead of fusion rifles But thanks for the heads up I will start to bank snipers now!
-
It's the broken system called RNG. Since you didn't play year 1 you don't know the struggles on Pocket Infinity... game knows you want a certain weapon so it wonmt give you what you need
-
Happened to me too. I just got lucky and had sniper rifles in my vault, but I wasn't so lucky when I had to do that with Hand Cannons, that took me awhile to complete. And the legendary hand cannon I bought with legendary marks, I was NOT going to dismantle, because I wanted to use it. Now, I'm having the same issue, receiving SHIT-TONS of armor engrams and only a few weapons engrams, and also recieving a lot of the same crap from legendary engrams as well. So it's now a hundred times harder to upgrade your weapons and/or infuse them, because Bungie just HAD to nerf it for whatever ridiculous reason. I can understand now why people are calling for weapons parts to be for sale. But if that happens, I bet they'll require something else to purchase them, that you'll need, and will probably end up making the game a nightmare in another way, and here we'll be again. ^_^ They should do more with customizations and upgrades as well, so we can utilize the resource overflow, rather than having to delete them (that extra slot of Spinmetal that you have about 138 of could finally come in use). Or at the very least, offer a resource exchange along with, or rather than, the material exchange that's currently in place. -- Metal --

Why waste time running heroics when you get the same loot from the 36 playlist?
-
You dismantle legendary grade or rare grade snipers lol
-
Haha you must not remember pocket infinity bounty. "Is the gunsmith selling rare fusion rifles?"
-
They've had quest lines like this since vanilla. Some quests take a while :/
-
The loot is broken, they nerfed the hell out of weapon parts and when i got play strikes for engrams I pull maybe 4x worth of armour than weapons. Becomes very frustrating when you keep hovering around 20 weapon parts but can't progress cause every engram is a dam armor piece
-
I dismantled 2 year 1 legendaries I never would use again and that did it.
-
I had all the weapons I needed in the vault. You could also go buy one from a vendor.....
-
Edited by Cerberus_323: 10/22/2015 4:30:58 PMDo you have any old year 1 snipers? Legendaries count as 5 so destroy 2
-
Yeah this happened to me as well. As soon as I got the quest where I need to dismantle Auto Rifles, I suddenly stopped getting them. Eventually I bought legendary weapons from the gunsmith and dismantled them instead. I'm starting to suspect that the games code (or whatever, I'm not a programming-wizard) scans your quest and changes the loot tables rarities so that it takes more time.
-
It's RNG with engrams. I hate how people blame Bungie for their poor luck.
-
You can use year 1 gear to do it as well. If you have 2 year 1 legendaries it's easily done.
-
You can get some through the gunsmith, although that takes a whole damn week. Court of Oryx is probably the best bet for your time...
-
Every time they have those missions the thing you look for are never around and or very few of them.

No Mic. No Problem. - old
Heroic Strikes are a little too much. Why not just go with the lower-leveled strikes? They give just as much engrams. Heroic Strikes can take long depending on your Fireteam. At least with the lowers, you can spend less time on them and still get just as much. -
Dismantle year 1 gear that was crap duh
-
Save rare or legendary hand cannons. You will need them soon.
-
You have no year ones? I finished all of the class specific weapons using year 1 guns I didnt care to keep.
-
I dismantled Year 1 snipers for it. The fusion rifle one was like you described, though - I never held on to fusion rifles since I don't really like them, so I had to grind and grind.
