All these people saying "Sanders" makes me sick. Socialism is just one step away from Communism.

"Uhhh, if you look over to your left, you'll see the Red Scare is quite prevalent with the natives."
-
Nice rhetoric. Hey Obama we got an EXTREMIST over here, send over a predator drone strike. You know the ones you legalized against U.S. Citizens.

This right here is the truth people

To be fair, conservatism is one step away from fascism.
-
Good point. Thanks, Mr. Skeltal.

You're just a skeleton you don't know what you are talking about

Fascist in regard to the more nationalistic ideology, maybe, but not authoritarian.
-
Not a fact
-
If you want to look at the political spectrum in a really simplistic way, it is. Far right = Fascism Right = Conservatism Centre = Liberalism Left = Socialism Far left = Communism
-
Here's how I see it Far right: fascism Right: conservatism Middle: moderate view Left: liberalism Far left: socialism I don't think liberals are neutral.
-
Where does that leave communism though? There is a world of difference between communism and socialism, just as there is between conservatism and fascism. The reason why the spectrum I listed is the way it is and why liberalism (by the dictionary definition) occupies the centre-ground is because the power of government increases as you move more from the centre-ground. Liberalism advocates a level of neutrality that socialism and conservatism do not offer. A lot of people right now who identify as liberal really aren't liberal at all, their mindsets on social issues are much more left-leaning than a liberal one.

I see whet you mean

What are you more?

Edited by Mr Skeltal: 10/13/2015 1:53:48 AMI'm honestly not sure. If I had to say anywhere, I suppose I would lie somewhere between right and the centre, but I borrow many ideas from the left and right and I don't feel particularly partisan to any single party or ideology.

You don't understand socialism.
-
Because a system that takes from someone who may have worked hard for that money, while the ones who set those very laws still get payed outrageous amounts of money yet never have to give can't possibly go wrong? Face it. Large countries with large governments can't use socialism. No matter how good the idea sounds, with a government as big as the U.S.'s, having corruption out the anus as is, letting the lawmakers and those in power decide who gets how much money is a bad idea. The USSR is the perfect example. It was too large. Sure, a country with a weak/small military, small government, and small population, such as Norway and such can get away with it. There's less people to divide the needs, less government to take advantage of it, and less military to enforce the advantage. And socialism has continually failed given time. In fact every system has. Continual cleansing and revolutions are the only solution to a long-term (though never eternal) successes, as witnessed by history.
-
No, you don't understand socialism. How about you look at the appeal of all other countries with a socialist past?
-
What, like the Scandinavian countries that many of Sander's policies are based on?
-
I live in Denmark... It wouldn't work in the US So many problems with a country so big and so heavily founded on freedom and individuality. Scandinavian countries have very small populations and are very homogeneous and ALL strongly believe in their welfare state. The mentality needs to be there before the welfare state is.
-
That's very true. But can implement certain positive aspects without breaking the country. Sanders' economics seem too left. But his political stance is something that I am vet supportive of.
