the Taken King Honest review...

So after a few weeks in, I can honestly say I have played enough to give it an "honest" review.... Cue your favorite intro music. I can honestly say Destiny year 1 left a bad taste in my mouth, and I was not going to buy the taken king. Destiny, was in fact a Beta of sorts... and I think we can all agree we fell into the trap of paying for content that Bungie and Activision were using us to be testers and guinea pigs. destiny year 1, was not ready for release (in my eyes). My opinion of Destiny year 1, was very harsh... I was very upset at much of the game. Though the PVP I still enjoyed, the overall repetitive grind on the PVE side, and the RNG aspect was sooo unappealing. Everything felt like such a chore, and even when you did these chores for hours and hours, there was no guarantee you would get any reward for your efforts. As for The Taken King (after seeing many streams and content reveals) It really looked promising, so I said to myself, let's give this one more college try. To sum this all up... I'm VERY glad I did. The Taken King is actually a majority of what the first year of Destiny should have been... and much of what they said and claimed Destiny was going to be years ago. Example "When you see someone with a weapon, you will know exactly what they did to get it, and where they got it from". This was a direct quote from Bungie in one of their reveals. Destiny year one was NOTHING like this. You didn't know crap about where or how someone got blessed by RNGesus. In Destiny year 2... that's exactly how I feel. I see someone with a Gun or gear (not all but most of it), and I know exactly what they did, and what they went through, and where they got that gear from. The quests, and hidden things in this game are making it extremely enjoyable to play. The Raid is fun again... right up there if not better than VoG. The light levels fit into the aspect of feeling stronger, and it doesn't Have to be a Purple item for it to be relative. There is so much to do in this game, and yet, there is still things that haven't been found. The gameplay of Destiny has always been good, even in year 1. But year 1 was so jaded due to content issues. Year 2 has really redeemed Destiny. Yes, things will eventually tale off, and us Guardians will have done much in the game there is to do leaving not much content left to do, other than find the hidden things. But that's honestly not Bungies fault... that's our fault for those of us who play 20 hours a day and rush through the content. this game finally made me feel as though it has offered a good majority of what they said it was going to be. Yes, there are still aspects missing, but Year 2 gave much promise in my eyes, that Bungie will, sooner... rather than later, deliver the content missing (such as speeder races, trading... or other things like that). Can't wait to see what else is in the Destiny plans. As a big critic of year 1... I applaud the way you (Bungie) made me do a 180 in year 2.
