The one cosmetic item that most people care about (especially hunters), and you tie light into them.
Now I'm forced to use a cloak I don't like as much aesthetically just to have a decent light level.
The one week pledge to a faction is awesome and frees us to use any class item we want now, but attaching light to those items now negates that feature.

They made them useful. I don't see what you're crying about. If you play any other rpg, an item like that usually gives you some kind of buff, but class items were just pointless aside from aesthetics. Now they serve a purpose. Be grateful

This is true
-
Can't wait till lvl 40 bc I got those two cloaks from quest and that gunslinger cloak looks so good with sunsetting
-
Can you not infuse them? You'll be forced to wear year 2 class items, but considering they have perks I'm fine with that.
-
Yeah, especially since the new Hunter cloak looks like it has Toadstool from Mario screaming on the bottom of the cloak. Can't unsee.

Edited by XHappyCat1337X: 9/11/2015 7:25:04 AMYeah, this wasn't the best design choice on Bungie's part. Either they need to remove stats from class items and Ghosts. -OR- They finally get with the times and add a Transmog/Wardrobe/Outfit system to the game. Personally, I would prefer the latter as it would also extend to Armor.
-
It's just bungies idea into forcing us to grind year 2. Which is pretty much ridiculous because everyone's going to be wearing the same thing... again
-
Doesn't really matter that much to titans and no one gave a flying fuck about bonds but a hunters cloak was supposed to be his way of expressing himself to the universe. At least I have you future IB wolfs head cloak

Class items should get an infuse option. I liked how they were like a 'vanity item' to give your char extra personality Now were only going to see the highest stat class items equipped, like how in TDB the only endgame armor was Crota drops
-
I'll admit I'm mad now, but that's just because my main (Hunter) has to give up style for stats, yet again. But it's only temporary, and until TTK actually drops it doesn't matter right now. Which is why I'm still rocking my Exile cloak lol. That said, I have no understanding why some class items went down to 30 defense while others stayed in the 100s. :/ I've noticed it's on the "special" class items, too; ToO class items, Iron Banner class items AND Queens Wrath class items (my Cloak of the Sixth Reign is forever 30 defense. Nooooo 😭 😭). Why? You'd think it was a bug maybe, but I doubt it. Give it time, and give yourself a chance to get a nicely rolled class item then put forth your option. Remember, we're still temporarily level capped until Tuesday, and a lot of our stats are weird due to the system changing. I think it'll be fine. I hope lol.
-
Wait for year 2 items. That's what this system is meant for, they want you to move one from old gear, even cloaks. You can still keep em and use em if you want, they just won't help as much.

i am disappointed by this news and think it is a poor idea to link light to class items. seems like i wasted my motes buying cloaks from the speaker in recent weeks since they are lower level. hopefully, something changes and more info comes out when TTK releases. i am sure there will be some cool new ones with TTK, but I have some favorites that i was hoping to use going forward.

Calm down guy. It's just until the new stuff comes out
-
Infuse it and get over it.

I won't be able to rock my binary Lazarus, which was the first (but far from last) piece of gear I actively ground for

Problem is, it was never intended to be like this in the first place. They were going to be cosmetic items only until someone thought, "HEY! Lets give them stats and some meaning!" Sounds like a good idea until you realize the difference in something you 'want' to wear compared to something you 'have' to wear. Do you know how many cloaks/marks/bonds people will be wearing for end-game? 29... each... 6 faction specific (three are exotic) 3 crucible specific 4 class specific (one exotic) 16 Vanguard specific. (7 are speaker specific) I can guarantee you that a lot of end-game players are going to go for the faction exotic specific ones because they increase your defense by 10 points. Those 10 points matter. This is compared to the ~72 cloaks/marks/bonds you could be wearing with the old system. This is roughly a ~40% reduction in customization. The first thing I noticed when playing as my hunter was that every hunter I saw was wearing the same cloak... That counteracts the point of what the cloak is suppose to represent! That's not right!!

I can agree... there wasn't a need to add light and defensive stats to class items... passive abilities maybe, or cosmetic effects, but it doesn't feel right having to choose my personality based on stats...

You ruined my happy day with this post Thanks ....

Calm down. You really can't wait a week?

Bump. Just the Devs at Bungie being noobs. Some of their decisions make them look like a group of monkies -blam!-ing a football.
