Peter Dinklage
Why the fudge has Peter Dinklage been dropped as the voice of ghost?.. Who's been moaning about this?.
I've been playing this game from day one and it seems they're changing everything I like about it!!..
Nolan North is a legend, but I much prefer Dinklage, as he voiced ghost from the start.
Stop -blam!-ing changing shit!

He had other acting priorities going on so bungie decided to go with noland and for continuity is having him voice ghost in all the old lines. 7 RepliesSo I heard from a friend of a friend that this is what happened. Bungie had to cut ties with him after he was wrongly convicted of a crime he didn't commit. The conviction was due to a last minute blunder by his defense team but he had to leave the country. From what we could gather he took off to the Middle East to look for a hot chick with exotic pets. Bungie however couldn't afford another PR scandal and had to replace him.

He either wanted too much money to come back, too busy, or he didn't want to do it anymore.

Dinklage is the least of their problems. I don't know anyone who complained about this. The script was the thing that sucked.

Horrible voice actor, no. He has done some great voice work in the past and is a great actor. I think it was more he was playing a robot, and tried emulating that. When you are casted as a robot, certain preconceptions come to mind: lifeless, soulless, monotone, the list could go on. When you hear North, a seasoned voice actor, talk about it, he looks at him differently. He even said that the Ghost knows he can die, you find dead ghosts all around, and he sees death and sorrow all around. Here he is trying to make the best of a bad situation, he may be a little goofy and sputter a joke a time or too, but he knows the pain, and how serious it is. That's what the difference North will bring, and what Dinklage failed to see.

1 ReplyI had high hopes for dinklage after seeing videos from e3, but unfortunately whether it was poor writing, a lack of effort on his part or a combination of the two, he just wasn't very good. Perhaps he just isn't meant for voice acting. All I know is I'm excited for north to take the reigns. Hopefully he can inject some emotion, humor and originality into the ghost's personality.

People speculated that he was given a really shoddy script, he just stopped caring, whatever; point is a lot of people were vocal about their disappointment in his performance in the game. Personally I honestly couldn't care who voiced my ghost, and for that matter I'd rather my ghost not even be streamlined into the story if it's going to follow suit of the vanilla story missions. If we could choose a voice set a la Halo's firefight voices and s/he'd comment whenever we'd enter a new area or a public event would open I'd be more than content. Right now I don't trust the story telling capabilities of the writing staff. I think TTK will effectively fix that but right now I'm carrying the narrative with caution.

It's better this way. Dinklage wasn't coming back and it doesn't make sense for your ghost to just randomly change voices. It was done for consistency. Ghosts are supposed to be super important not just silent props

They fired him or something after the original game launch, that's why he doesn't talk in any of the dlc's

Every time the ghost talked I just heard this monotone voice of someone who sounded like they didn't care and just wanted a paycheck. Never understood why they'd want him in the first place, plenty of voice actors out there that have done great jobs with video games. Give them the work!

Oh shut the -blam!- up. Dinklebot wasn't even good. He had NO character. His delivery was average at best. I'm glad they got someone who can actually do voice overs.

My guess was either peter didn't want to do more voice for destiny, couldn't due to schedule conflicts, or wanted more money than bungie was willing to give.

For some reason their contract fell apart and to not confuse new and or old players they re voiced everything. Why did the contract fall apart? Heard a lot of rumours, just scroll down haha. No idea what's true though.
