So we all know that DB is collecting dust in our vaults for a reason. While it has impressive impact, the rocket launcher as a whole is underwhelming, especially its exotic perk. The solar grenade doesn't do enough damage to kill plus enemies walk away from it so its a useless perk overall.
I have two changes,if implemented, will increase its use and worth by 200% and rival the gally:
1.Replace Tripod with grenades and horseshoes. Make tripod a base perk.
2. Replace the solar grenade with the Match grenade from the sunbreaker subclass like in the video.
https://youtu.be/HHWB-mpmv60
. All you gotta do is have the fire wall form horizontally, improve the look to make it look like a gian wall of fire that you can't see through, beef up the damage it deals, and add damage over time like thorn.
Doing this will make it a great pve weapon, halting a thrall rush or even trapping enemies in a small space making it easier to finish them off. It will also make it an effective pvp weapon, having players shoot at a area to stop the enemy team from advancing to your control point adding more strategy to matches.
Bungie,if you implement these changes, you can stop destiny from being a one-launcher game.

It really just needs an improved rate of fire, something that borders on the line of ridiculous, something that feels exotic, so you can get all three rockets out in the time it takes to fire one gally.

MAK said it in a video, and I 100% agree. Make it have a simgularity effect. The problem with DB is that it has so much untapped potential. It can be the highest DPS rocket launcher, but enemies move away from the flare. Now Borderlnads people know how this works. The enemies are pulled into the flare. Now this would make the DB fill its role, and its role is a zoning/crowd control rocket launcher.

They aren't gonna buff it. Here's why: Dragons Breath technically has more potential damage than Gjallarhorn. However, this damage is never fully utilized as the target moves out of the solar flare. Another problem is that the low velocity coupled with no tracking makes it hard to hit targets. So the downfall isn't the fact that it doesn't deliver a lot of damage, it's that targets move out of the way, dodging rockets and flares. So what if there was a way to trap targets, perhaps prevent them from moving. Something that could freeze them into place. Something coming with the taken King. I present to you, the Nightstalker super. Couple this with a Gjallarhorn nerf, now the Dragons Breath is gonna be a -blam!-ing beast. To answer the question, it doesn't need a nerf. Come a month or so, and it'll be a monster.

Edited by Seraphim Frost: 8/3/2015 5:29:20 AMSorry, but this is awful. Basically giving it what makes Gjallahorn have a secret perk for. Legit. Bad idea. The fire sounds ridiculously overkill. It's fine as is. There's a reason for it being like it is. It CAN do more damage than Ghorn. That's the fall back, the enemy moves from the flare. Honestly there's a reason why not all people make it into game design. And why there's various stages into approval of an exotic weapon. Cause kiddos like you want their favorite creation/gun to be the best. It would get nerfed eventually. Edit: Ghally is getting nerfed btw. And any rocket does pretty well nowadays. You legit sound like a kid who doesn't have ghorn and wants their favorite gun to be the new op weapon. Just get out. Everyone below has better suggestions.

Dragons breath does more damege than gally
-
Increase velocity, RoF, magazine to 4 rockets, and the length of the solar grenades. bam it's actually useful for setting hazards and closing chokepoints.
-
Just have Sunbreaker gauntlets affect the duration of the flare. You simultaneously brush tbe dust off of two exotics...
-
If they made it arc damage
-
Or just make the solar flare as big as the blast radius and stunning
-
DB is good... I dont know why are you complaing...
-
Make it a flamethrower
-
My idea is better. Make it full auto with no recoil. Boom, mind blown
-
Edited by Marcus Marcus: 8/3/2015 2:34:28 AMOr just have the flare stick when you get a direct hit on targets. I wonder when's Xûr gonna sell it again. Been meaning to get my hands on one, if only for fun.
-
The only change it needs is to stick to the enemy or ignite them so they keep taking damage if they leave the flare.
-
Or 1:Take tripod out completely and add quarter strike(this rocket launcher holds 4rockets) 2: add proximity as it's "hidden"/passive perk 3: Change the exotic perk so that it has a cluster bomb effect(no tracking) and all the bombs create a vortex.
-
I feel any adjustment to Dragon's Breath would make it better. It's literally just a rocket launcher with Solar Grenades for non Sunsinger classes.
-
I'll take one please. It's garbage now
-
It should explode into two of each solar grenade for hunters/locks. Burn the world.
-
Bungie: we've heard your ideas on how to improve the weapons. So we've decided to nerf gjallahorn again
-
The rocket should look like a dragon when it leaves the barrel
-
Maybe make the flare bigger and do DoT
-
I'd make the solar flare be 2x the size it is, stuff closest to the center take the most damage, targets get trapped inside and are slowed.
-
I would modify your second change. I'd have it to where the solar flare sticks to the enemy
-
Also make it arc
-
The only thing they need to do is add ignite to the solar flare so If the target moves it will take damage damage over time. That way the target can't avoid a large deal of damage, but in fact will take additional damage if it stays in the flare as the ignite effect will be doting once it impacts the area
-
I say give it tracking and a DoT effect.
