Police officer kills baby and has no consequence.
<National Report>In a continuation of the ongoing police scandals rocking the New York City Police Department, three-month old infant Layla Smith has been pronounced dead following an August sixth incident. This closely follows the July seventeenth death of NYC resident Eric Garner after the use of a prohibited choke hold by officers against him. Garners death was ruled a homicide by the NYC medical examiners office. Suzanne Smith, Layla’s mother, had been sitting on a bench in Queens waiting for the bus when Layla began to insistently cry. Knowing that her baby was hungry Ms. Smith began to breastfeed her daughter. Witnesses at the scene report that she was then approached by a NYPD Officer, later identified as Michael Fitzsimmons, who requested that she stop feeding the baby in public as it was “indecent”. Ms. Smith refused to comply with the directive and told Officer Fitzsimmons that she wasn’t doing anything illegal. Officer Fitzsimmons again insisted that she stop and threatened to arrest her for indecent exposure. Ms. Smith calmly responded to the Officer that he could not arrest her because breastfeeding in public wasn’t against the law. “He got so mad at her”, said Tyrone Webb, who witnessed the unfortunate altercation. “He started yelling at her, saying that he was the police, and that she didn’t know s**t about what was against the law. He got all red in the face, pointing his finger right at her nose. She just sat there and kept feeding the baby calm as could be, being real polite and reasonable. Someone else tried to chime in and tell him he was wrong and he told the lady to shut up and mind her business.” As the argument transpired the bus approached and Ms. Smith stood up and moved Layla to her other arm, momentarily exposing her whole breast to the Officer and other onlookers. Ms Smith then clipped her breastfeeding bra shut and went to get on the bus with her baby. Sandra Parker, another witness to the incident, described what followed next: “He screamed at her to stop and told her that she was under arrest. When she ignored him and kept walking toward the bus he grabbed her by the back collar of her shirt and violently yanked her backwards. The poor baby just toppled out of her hands. She hit the ground and the poor little thing just started bleeding from her head. The Officer saw what happened and actually continued to cuff the mother while she began to scream. It was the most horrifying thing I’ve ever seen!” Onlookers grabbed the injured baby and attempted to staunch the flow of blood from her split head. Officer Fitzsimmons is reported to have made the statement to the crowd that “it was an accident but you can’t resist arrest”. Layla was transported to Queens Hospital Center. Her mother was taken to the precinct for processing. Layla subsequently died, without her mother, from her injuries at the hospital. Officer Fitzsimmons has been placed on paid leave pending a full investigation. The NYC Police Department has issued a statement expressing their concern regarding this “unfortunate” event and states that all citizens must comply with orders to submit to arrest peacefully so that accidental injuries can be avoided. Local community leader and Smith family friend Harold Jackson has called for the arrest of Officer Fitzsimmons on charges of murder, calling his actions a travesty of justice. Ms.Smith was released from police custody with no charges being filed against her. The Smith family has not yet commented on the death of their daughter.
http://nationalreport.net/nyc-police-officer-kills-baby-breastfeeding-argument/
The Internal Affairs investigation concluded that while Officer Fitzsimmons was mistaken concerning the illegality of breastfeeding in public, he acted correctly and in good faith given his present understanding at that time. The report states that Officer Fitzsimmons had an obligation to enact the enforcement of NY and Federal law as he understood it. And that it is the responsibility of NY residents to comply with the directives of a deputized enforcement Officer placing them into custody. The report continues to note that the death of Layla was tragic and avoidable. It calls for a broad retraining initiative statewide regarding public nudity and indecency statutes with an emphasis placed on the legality of public breastfeeding; specifically that the discomfort of those present during a public breastfeeding has no bearing on whether or not it can take place. The report notes that Officer Fitzsimmons was acting in response to a complaint, resulting in the incident. The report also notes that while the entire NYPD feels for the loss of Ms.Smith that she acted improperly when she attempted to flee the directive of Officer Fitzsimmons that she stop and submit to arrest. Attempting to flee arrest from an officer is against the law and is classified as resisting arrest. Officer Fitzsimmons is scheduled to return to work August eighteenth following a series of mandatory counseling sessions with Department psychologists. He will not be returned to patrol duty due to “community hostility” directed against him. Instead he will be reassigned to an investigative in-house desk position. NYPD’s spokesman declined to comment when questioned whether Officer Fitzsimmons would receive the salary increase normally associated with this position.
http://nationalreport.net/nypd-cop-killed-baby-cleared-charges/ But yeah, no the police should be allowed to do whatever they want. Society would be better off without police. Period. End of discussion. There is no debate here. Tell me. At what point can we as a society hold police accountable for their actions? The police should have stronger punishments for when they abuse their power, but as it stands in America a police officer probably wouldn't even lose their job for cold blooded murder.
it's fake. I baited them. Just so you know
• You should have been killed the same way. Yes, there are so many people that have no business being police officers, but the good ones are working to keep you and your family that you wish you had safe. They have no right to do some things, but you have no right to condemn every single good one as well. My grandfather was a good, honest officer whom my father took after. You have absolutely no -blam!-ing right to bash these men who have done nothing but protect people. As a matter of fact, why post this specific of news on offtopic, and most of your posts are bashing police? To get a reaction out of people like I'm giving you right now? You're the most -blam!-ing disgusting human being I have ever known of. Am I biased? Sure. Who isn't? Surely not you, or anyone else in humanity for that matter. So, you can take your own personal bias, and shove it so far up your ass it pokes out of your mouth, feces ridden because you're so much of an immensely fat neckbeard that you can't even reach around you wipe your own ass. Go die via sucking on a dick.

                      • The officer was in the wrong. So was the woman for ignoring and resisting the officer. I'm a dispatcher and I work closely with law enforcement. One of my top priorities are responder safety. This has me creating close bonds with my fellow brotheren. They are human beings and part of the community too. They put their life on the line daily. Just like your fellow community, there will always be bad eggs. You shouldn't judge a group based on bad eggs. You calling them "pigs" just shows that you are an irrational, horrible person. Everyone needs to treat them with the respect they deserve. If you treat them like shit, they will gladly return the favor. We need to band together and understand that they are just doing their job. Don't like their job? Don't be angry at them, be angry at the government... And I'm sorry bud but if you don't like law enforcement, go to another country that doesn't have them... Good luck. If we all work together and form a peaceful bond, it would be a lot easier to weed out the bad eggs.

You do realize there are 700,000 (at maximum) missing and unaccounted for people in the USA alone nearly EVERY year and NO ONE knows why or what is happening to them right? (Originally improperly cited as 7 million sry my bad on that) Also nation wide homicide solve rate is 45% so nearly 55% of every murder goes UNSOLVED Those are both BETTER reasons for eliminating police than 1 officer killing a baby, 55% of all KILLERS go free in USA weather they are a police officer or a citizen In 1970 murder solve rate nation wide was 65% so police have gotten WORSE at their jobs too Not sayin its right or wrong or justified or anything like that jus posting data that is slightly MORE relevant to the reason we dont need police as you say and that they are a problem more than a benefit

Too many people join the police force just for the power trip. The problem isn't the position, it's the people who are filling them. We can't have bullies and bigots in the police force and expect them to act rationally. While I disagree that the police should just be disolved, I agree that changes must be made. We need to work better to filter these types of people out of the police academies and try to get more level minded and calm people in their positions. Side note: yes, the article is fake, but police brutality is still a thing and should be taken seriously. http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/nypd-officer-kills-baby-story-hoax-twitter-outcry-over-fake-news-satire-website-1460454 Nationalreport.net, if you look it up is the only site that reported on this incident and it also failed to list any sources (always a bad sign for credibility). It's satire, like the onion.
