Ive been gaming for over 30 years now and I see your point. I hate to sound like an old man being in my mid 30's but allot of it is these young gamers who have access to the internet and due to lack of life experience and the general fact that everyone seems to think they are entitled to whatever they want when they want. they will complain on the internet because they can anonymously with no repercussions. Back in the old days when we had to play competitively either at home on the couch with friends or at a arcade there was always trash talking but not the way it is now if you went up to some random person playing street fighter or mortal kombat ect. And said the things people say everyday on these forums you would get a fist in your face or a foot in your ass real quick. Also people think they buy one game and it should last them forever with updates and expansions for free. Back in the old cartridge game days you bought a game played it and when you were done you traded it with a friend or put it in a pile with your other games and played something else. You didn't complain to people who really don't care that you've played this game for 1200 hrs and are now bored and don't have a weapon you think you deserve. Go play something else or maybe go spend some time in the real world for a change. And if you feel really brave go up to some random guys and talk shit to their faces for no reason and see what happens.

  • Except game designers now realize that your time is valuable, marketing and social media are almost synonymous, and publishers know that if you have a place to discuss your game players become persistently invested in it. And RPG elements are fairly standard in all genres to reward time investment. This ain't Pac-Man or Pong, yo. In short, if you make a game that is a mindless grind with a nonsensical reward system, or no rewards at all, people won't continue to play it - throwing the game in your "pile", as it were - the exact thing they dont want with a DLC model. You must respect the player. Destiny's loot system absolutely does not. Destiny gets a LOT of negative press. Therefore it has an extremely negative community. But it's not entirely their fault. Check the hype pattern against the reality of the game. Why do you think players are salty? Why do you think one year later it's going to be almost a completely different game? Because people praised it during that year? No. This isn't quite the game advertised at launch. You think it's no big thing that someone didn't get the reward they were seeking. While it's akin to not walking out of a casino with a million dollars, do you think it's a positive thing that someone puts in 1000 hours and couldnt conceivably get a Gjallarhorn before they were given out welfare style last week with the impending nerf? Something like that truly upsets and frustrates people. So they come here to vent because...some people have nothing else they can do. So while your "back in my day" speech is very rousing, it has no place in today's gaming communities. And I'm older than you. And by the way, you should've heard some of the shit my friends and family have said to each other playing Mario Kart 64. Good times. TLDR: Mic drop.

  • College Humor should do a video like that. "PVP gamers in real life" or something...
