So, Most people are already aware over the controversies surrounding the $80 Taken King Collector's Edition and the fact that purchasing it was the only way to acquire 3 new emotes, 3 armour shaders and a small few exotics. Well, now bungie has "apologised" to everyone that have been with the game since the beginning by allowing people to purchase these small shaders, emotes and exotics in a bundle for $20, What the -blam!-? Are you having a laugh mate? This strikes myself as being ridiculous. We're all aware that Bungie and Activision have already taken this awesome community for a bunch of fools on numerous occasions and this new deal just seems like an even bigger slap in face to all of us. We may be willing to pay up for the previous expansion packs but for the love of God, let's all stand together and tell bungie that this $20 DLC is way too messed up. DON'T BUY THIS -blam!-ING RIDICULOUS $20 DLC, VOTE WITH YOUR WALLET, and lets show em that we can't be completely walked over. Stay strong bro's and girl bro's!
Edit 1: The reason for this post wasn't to complain that Bungie have made the content available for everyone (which is great), it's that everyone should not buy this content due to its unbelievably high price, as more shady business decisions like this could appear down the line that could affect the communities ability to actually play the game. (As for now, yes I understand that these are stupid optional content, that won't really affect anyone's overall enjoyment of the game. However, we should think bigger picture for what could happen in the future)
Edit 2: Not complaining about the fact that they aren't free, just that $20 is too much for a small cosmetic package. Just saying, that if enough people buy it, then it can signal to bungie that an over blown pricing structure like this is Okay. (I never complained about wanting the cosmetic items, just that bungie seems to be screwing over the people that do want them with the pricing)

But I want everything for free no matter what it costs free free free gimme gimme gimme, but I'm day one I'm special you must give me everything.
-
I'll be paying for this. Whether it's too much or not is your problem. Not everyone's. This 'fault' isn't a fact. It's your own opinion.

Edited by Rick: 6/26/2015 9:23:06 PMLegendary Edition - $60 This bundle includes everything to get a new player started with Destiny - Destiny, Dark Below, House of Wolves and The Taken King. Digital Legendary Collector's Edition - $80 Includes the Legendary Edition plus nine exclusive items to help new players level up their new guardians. By request of all the whiny, crying, entitled kids, Bungie made the collector's edition items - designed for new players - available for everyone. They literally gave you what you asked for. They took the $80 Collector's Edition and dropped the $60 Legendary Edition from it. It was always $20. Now, suddenly no one wants the cosmetic items. This forum community is a toxic, cancerous blight on society.

I know, man - I hear you. So stoopid. I wish that there was an option to just not buy it. All I want is the game, and not all this other crap. But, Bungie is MAKING us spend an extra $20! Wait - what? I don't have to spend the $20 if I don't want to? Well, then what's all the fuss about??? (hint - you know what's worse than Bungie giving us the option of spending $20 on something I might want in the game? Having to wade through everyone's $0.02 about this on the forums.)
-
Look at other mmos man.... Neverwinter makes people pay like 20 dollars (optionally) for mounts and stuff but then new raids and other content is free you could be seeing a test for the market and possibly a shift to a microtransaction market that could fund future expansions.... Also I could be completely wrong which I will freely admit if the time comes!
-
Everyone cried that they wanted this option without purchasing the game again. Now your crying cause they aren't giving it out for free? FFS mate, this ain't a charity! Go tell your mum to explain basic economics to you.
-
Some CS:GO knife skins can cost $200-$500 a piece. A hat alone in TF2 can cost $20. $20 for nine items is justified.
-
the price of a dlc no less. funny how people delude themselves into getting scammed.

Edited by Malleus NX01: 6/26/2015 9:03:59 PMAs long as we have people in the community willing to allow Acti-Bungie to continue to over promise and under-deliver on the amount of content then this will continue....and most likely it will continue because as you see in these responses you have plenty of people willing to be swindled even after Bungie has provided two very sparse DLC "expansions". It is their money and their decision like Filthy Nut is saying however, I would put forth the idea that it does become everyone's problem as unfortunately they are just telling the producer of the product that small content drops are OK, and the value of 20 bucks for little more than cosmetic items is fine by the community. Eventually people who have different opinions on the value of money they earned will leave the game and the community, which to be honest has already happened in my circle of players. After the news this week, I will be following their lead and not purchasing more content unless Bungie proves to me it is worth the asking cost. My hope is enough people will share that opinion and Bungie will take notice, rethink their pricing structure for which everyone in the community will benefit, but I'm not holding my breath.

You do realise that the people selling this shit to us are the type of people that go to Florida for 3 weeks and pay about 5 grand or more to go there? They don't give a shit if a few hundred people don't buy their stuff because there will be a profit target that they intend to hit, and they will because there's a lot of people with money out there
-
I paid around $15 for a single horse in ESO...
-
When you think about it like that, yes we are being super screwed. However, its collectors edition content. Making it 50% more than the dlc w/no ce stuff is a little bit whack, but at the end of the day its you paying 60$ for the collector's edition of a blockbuster game. These are not things offered to everyone, they are collectors edition things. Same general idea as frontier ghost.
-
Impossible to justify this. Think about it... They are asking us to pay the full price of The Dark Below, or House of Wolves for 9 cosmetic items. Also, half the price of this huge new expansion. It doesn't add up in any way and makes no sense at all. I love bungie but I'd like to slap whoever makes these decisions. You shall not have my money
-
-blam!- all I'm buying it!
-
Free market bitch
-
At least it's not a necessity. If you don't want it, don't buy it, it's that simple. Nobody is telling you to buy it, they're just making it available.
-
It's the same price as the past dlcs
-
I believe this was Bungie's plan all along. Get everyone complaining about lack of options for year one players. Then come out and save the day and offer a package for 20 bucks. Well played Bungie well played. It costs them pretty much nothing I'm sure to make these digital packages. And in the end most will pay.
-
I'm hyped for the emotes especially the golf clap one LOL
-
So many people whining about the fact a lot of people have some common sense and dont want to be ripped off. Also a lot of people seem to think bungie have done something amazing when in fact what they have done is apologised for offending their playerbase and then told us that to get the stuff from the CE we have to pay an extra £20 (and it will be £20, not $20 for us in EU/UK!) on top of the £40 we have to pay already. So basically what Luke Smith said we'd be doing anyway, except I wont be throwing my money at the screen. I wish I could throw something at bungie though, and it isnt cash.....

Edited by Lessli Rose: 8/16/2015 3:09:15 PMJust shows you how gullible people are! Deny these drooling arseholes something, (anything really) and they'll whine and cry they wanna pay for it ...through the nose if possible please! hahahaha. Wouldn't doubt if it was a semi set up right from the beginning since ripoff bungie had no other way to sell their garbage to us and not look like the thieves they already are. They said, why not make the droolers BEG TO PAY FOR IT! So they did, and now we have to, and they're probably but crap colours and a goofy wave ...way ta go droolers, you don't even know what you're buying ...again.

I bought collector's edition. Ha.
