Does anyone know if there are any plans to revamp, or even simple improvements, to the forums and their functionality? I am not a user of Twitter or their hash tag scheme, and have always relied on traditional searches to find posts that I am interested in reading. The idea of hash tags reminds of me of meta-tags on web pages for search engine indexing. The major flaw with this indexing method is that not all content creators (post creators in terms of how this relates to the forums) have a marketing mind set on what hash tags and keywords need to be used. Why do you think the biggest and most successful internet search engine, Google, does not rely on meta-tags? Instead, they rely on indexing of content and title keywords.
As is right now, the only posts that seem to get any attention are the ones that have every hash tag available tagged to the post or are repeat posts. I think with improved indexing and search algorithms, the forums could be a more useful place; instead of the complaint boards.
What I would like to know is, am I alone in thinking that the current search functionality is less than efficient for creators and consumers who are not of a marketing/Indexing mind set?
