People Actually Cheese Roc Strikes? (Apparently So)

I was doing the Roc strike against Omnigul with one other Guardian (another had apparently gotten tired of dying and gone to orbit early in the strike, while fighting the Fallen). We entered her lair. The other Guardian promptly ran for the back corner and jumped up onto the crates, where he more or less hid for the rest of the fight, poking his head out to shoot from time to time. My only thought was, "Really? You feel the need, as a Level 32, to cheese a Level 26 strike?" Luckily, his antics caused Omnigul to turn and shoot in his general direction often enough that I was able to more or less solo the strike from the hallway side, and a friend joined my fireteam halfway through; but it took about twice as long as it should have done. OK, so, whatever. Play the game your way. I'm not here to tell you differently, I guess. And of course there are parts of some strikes that everybody cheeses- the Devil Walker, the Goliath tank- those pointless mid-strike Boss Mooks that only exist as a gateway to the final boss, but will kill you with one shot. I cheese them, too. But when it comes to the final boss- is there really any reason to cheese him (or her)? With a little caution, you can survive any boss encounter, even solo. I've done every single Roc strike and completed the bounty for not dying multiple times. Only bad luck or recklessness can kill you. Cheesing the boss is actually MORE dangerous in many cases than playing it straight. Please, will you just do the strike? Hold the cheese.

  • If people wait in Shrieker room during phogoth, I will not hesitate to run straight out. I can tolerate every other common cheese but this one boils my blood. The only purpose to waiting in that room is to avoid arc burn from boomers and wizards during nightfall. Don't wait in that room. Don't do it.

      • Balls to the wall! Just jump up and give her a face full of Swordbreaker. She loves the splatter so much she screams for more and tires out pretty fast.

      • The cheese he's referring too is a room up high and to the back of the boss fight area....its reckless...terribly boring...and a waste if your by yourself. In all honesty.... I wouldn't even call it a cheese...just a pathetic cowards way of making a strike longer than it should be. What makes omingul so great for me...is I can clear a ton of bounties...farm a ton of glimmer....and try out new strats/tactics pretty much every time. IF you have to "cheese" your level 26 roc strike? you're pathetic.... its just stupid. Weekly/Nightfall I can get..... but level 26? GTFO :P

        • I don't even like the omnigul cheese, it's way easier to shoot her via ward of dawn in between ad waves.

I've had people cheese the Nexus strike, it's more than irritating and just being overall a bad player, this cheese takes place so that in the starting area (where you fight the servitors) theres a window and you can jump through it and get past the the door thats locked, so he hopped through and left me and the other guy to fight whilst he sipped his damn tea.

          • I usually jump up there, slap them, then jump down and proceed to enjoy the most action packed, fun strike the game has to offer. All the while, they hide for no reason and miss out on everything. How about just not even playing at all, what's the point?

          • The ledge to the right of the entrance doorway is my spot. Only have to move twice when the knight spawns there. Guarantee I get more hits on her than anyone else

            • I did the LvL 12 Phogoth strike for the Thorn bounty, I joined at the end and found the two guys (31 & 32) in the Shrieker room trying to kill adds. Absolutely ridiculous.

              • It's not cheesing, it's called tactically placing yourself so you don't get shot to death.

              • It's definitely much faster to use the cheese spots for Sepiks, Valus, and Aksor. It's a bad idea on Phogoth because it spawns extra adds, but I would say it's neutral for Sekrion and Omnigul. The Sekrion cheese spots let you avoid some adds, but it doesn't make a big difference in completion time. For omnigul I guess it depends which room you use. You can get bogged down in the entry room for a long time, and the boss room is kind of a cluster-blam!- so you're going to have to hide in there to get your shields back eventually, which isn't too different from just going up to that room thing and reviving your teammates.

                • Yea, I wouldn't call it a cheese, but it's definitely unnecessary for a level 26 ROC strike, unless you're under the level.

                • So in your opinion hiding in a room poking your head out to pop shot a boss is a far worse tactic than hiding in a hallway doing the same? Just play the game the way you want to. Unless you are willing to pay for anyone elses account then you really have no input on how they play. As long as the job gets done it doesnt matter. If you dont like being forced to run with randoms then make more friends so you can all adopt similar play styles.

                  • I don't know.. Getting into the secret area in nexus is pretty hilarious. Everyone shoots at you but can't do anything while you kill it with armor piercing sniper and ice breaker. Is it needed? No. But it's something different. Mind you I usually play every strike all the way through and I play to support my team mates.

                    • I can do far more damage to her from that room than I ever can from the hallway and I never have to worry about a cursed thrall exploding right behind me. If at least one of my teammates works the hallway side then one of us always has an open shot to do damage to her.

                        • When I'm trying to get things done fast for some of the strikes i cheese. The ones I cheese are Nexus Archon Priest Valus But that's only the up top spots not te out of the map and all that crap. The other ones are easier to do legit than to cheese. I only cheese those 3 strikes 30% of the time though
