Like I've said in another comment, critical spots to me are a bit of a design flaw, of the Vex of course, not Bungie. They are used for lowly units, and are a product of malformed construction. The unit in my concept is more advanced, and has been through many sorties to determine how it is losing, and has developed methods to counteract any exploits against it's frame.
