i am a programmer, and what they're saying about limitations is rubbish, a paging mechanism would negate this, but would require big changes across a lot of components, so they're going for a quick and easy fix instead

  • Hopefully they get onto a big change and something more organized too. It would not only be great to have more space but more flexibility in how you manage your stuff, especially if you have OCD.

  • And they've already got the page system in place. Scroll through your roster page at your list of friends playing the game, presto! They've got the means to adapt that same mechanism to the vault interface. Now I'm not a programmer, but I raid with several programmers who basically scream the very same thing you are saying. Bungie solves easy solutions rather than concrete problems with their game. They want to show a working progress to the players with a minimum amount of effort.

  • The paging system in place is not really the full paging system that would need to be implemented, though. The existing functionality is the ability to toggle through different screens. What's lacking then is the functionality to "split" the vault up into multiple pages and determine which page the user is on and therefore, which items to be loaded and shown. That functionality does not look like it currently exists, and therefore would be new functionality. New functionality always take some time to develop, especially if you need to integrate it with already other existing functionalities. The testing of this new functionality, as well as testing the "linked" functionalities to ensure no issues pop up, also take quite some time. If there are issues found during testing, that takes further time to fix the issues and retest them. Note that I also am unhappy with how little extra space we're getting. But just wanted to show you guys a glimpse into the development process. It can really be time consuming.

  • That's really disappointing, but also kind of a good sign that something could be done about this.

  • I wouldn't call this a quick fix since it took them nearly 6 months to do it.

  • Or, it took them 6 months to take the demand for more vault space seriously, and then went for the quickest easiest fix they could whip on the fly. It wouldn't surprise me if this has only been in the works since after 1.1.1. when everyone was complaining they wanted more vault space, and DeeJ posted a thread asking people what they think the top 3 complaints are, in which more vault space was easily the most popular demand.

  • Clearly there already is a paging mechanism, which is why your tiles don't appear immediately. Problem is that the menu can't balloon to take up more space, regardless of whether it's on top of something easy like the Tower, or something hard like First Light.

  • That's what an update is... As you know, major changes across multiple systems would be more akin to a new version than a simple update, in this case more likely to happen with something like an expansion.

  • that's it, maybe they have more planned for HoW, or Comet, or Destiny 2 working on the current version of destiny is probably just maintenance work for the devs now, they would probably prefer to be working on the mass effect type walk in vault they may have planned for destiny 2!
