Edited by AnayySkywalker97: 3/17/2015 12:13:51 AMI think this is more of an economical questiom rather than something as simple as a single game saving an entire industry, though it could have had some impact

The system that brought back gaming was the NES. Though I'm not completely sure which game helped bring it back. Either Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt, Tetris, or Gyromite and Stack-up.

It only crashed in America. In the UK, 1983 was boom times for gaming, being the year the Spectrum and BBC really took off. Because they were actual computers, they were their own devkit, which is why the UK leads the world in qualified games industry staff per capita.

-
I doubt one game caused the collapse of an entire industry. Im pretty it has more to do with the economy at the time. But I cant be so sure since I wasnt around at the time

This is back when gaming wasn't a massive industry, dude - when a big flop, which ET was, could damage things immensely. It wasn't it's fault solely, but you should go check it out online, do a little research. Never hurts.

Do you have any links to start with?

Nope not sonic and genesis. And E.T did help cause the crash.
