I generally don't. I think about the person behind the music, and once I do that, the lyrics they wrote and message the song has behind it becomes lost for me.

That's fair though I'll give you an example. Personally I appreciate artists who are very verbose and lyrical and normally a superficial artist is a turn off. However Lloyd banks is the exception. He is the most superficial artist ever and flat out says he uses women as toys and raps mostly about money drugs and alcohol. But I can't get enough of him. Why? He's very talented. His flow is insane.

I don't know too much about Krizz but from what I've heard he's pretty good. Though right now I would have to say my favorite rap artist has to be joe Budden.

Which is fine for somebody to perceive music that way. You appreciate how the music sounds, whether you can connect to it or not. It just sounds good to you, and sometimes you have to respect the art, not necessarily the artist behind it.
