3 things you want that would improve Halo 4.

T4R 1) Improve characteristics of the Covenant and Promethean AI. On any difficulty above Normal, the Promethean-Knights are bloody cowards; they’ll teleport around, recharge their shields in about 3 seconds, and leap on you with their overpowered weapons. They’re not fun to fight on anything beyond Normal. The Covenant lack the characterisation that made them so great in Halo CE, they're unemotive and you can't play around with their AI as well as you could. Halo’s enemy AI has generally been pretty good, but I feel that they’re the weakest they’ve been in Halo 4. 2) More campaign missions. I love the story of Halo 4, I think it's the best in the series (next to ODST and Halo 2) but the pacing is off in some bits which really could have had an extra level or two put in. The first would be after Forerunner where you see the Infinity crash land, the scene just cuts from the top of a mountain to a jungle. IMO there could have been a 'hell descent' style level down the mountain to reach the jungle. The other would be set after Shutdown where you go to Ivanoff Station, but instead of going straight there you go down to Installation 03 first and discover more about the Didact's backstory from the novels in flashback sequences and the impending threat posed by the Precursors. 3) Forge - specifically bring back the editing tools that Reach had and give us just 1 map like Sandbox where we have a vast, flat terrain to Forge on with a large pallet of objects. That'd pretty much seal the deal for me and put Halo 4 above ODST and Halo 2. How about you guys?

  • I wholeheartedly agree with point #1 op. The only time Covies show emotion is when they're scripted. I'd have liked to see Elites pointing at the enemy like they did in the trilogy. Or hailing each other during patrols (like when you swap a gun with an allied Elite in Halo 2). And it'd have been nice to see them interact with their Grunts. Look at how the AI in CE were trying to get a stuck projectile off of them. Halo 2 got rid of it and we're down to 3 reactions: charge enemy, berserk, stand and shoot Also, look at how the marines in the gunner seat of a Hog would raise their fist when you got enough air. AS for the Prometheans, the only major distinction between Knight variants is a single unique ability (Battlewagons jump, Commanders do a weird force field flying thing, and Lancers do a zig zag teleport). Hardly impressive. The Crawlers are even worse. And don't get me started with the Elites. Zealots are plenty distinct (they have an unique sword swing, use camo, and can be seen staying behind cover and crouching) and so are Rangers but Generals are just pathetic.

  • 1) Radar Jammer! This was really the only useful part about AC in Reach (you know, besides using it 20 miles away with a sniper). It gave AC an enhanced stealth ability by hiding your movements as well as giving it a team purpose by masking their movements as well. My gameplay was so focused around the radar jammer, I could easily get multiple assassinations per game (my max was actually 19) and guess what? None of that was from camping. Halo 4 just feels awkward to me without a radar jammer, I would gladly take it as a standalone AA. 2) Ranked and Social playlists. Kinda weird that they haven't had this since H3. Sometimes I want to screw around in multiplayer, sometimes I want to play competitively. Simple concept, really. 3) Forced DLC for approximately half of the playlists. It's ridiculous when you buy the maps, but can only ever play them in one playlist. One playlist that will be removed after a couple months when the population dies down, to make it worse. Yes, there is the possibility they can be played in non-DLC playlists, but those chances are abysmal. In my few thousand games or so of Reach for example, I can count the amount of times getting DLC maps on my fingers.

  • Fix Menues Fix Custom games(Fix Infection, for the love of god, by just making Flood uncustomizable 343 murdered custom games in an instant. Plus, bring back more modes) More variety in vehicles. Bonus: More Campaign. (Don't give me that Spartan OPs shit.)

  • 1. Custom games restored to Halo 3 and Reach status. 2. Forge and file share fixed. 3. Multiplayer playlists fixed.

  • 1. Fixed weapon lowering 2. Elites 3. Return the mulitplayer back to the way it was in Reach or Halo 3. No more random weapon spawns or reward drops (I can't remember the actual term).

    • There's a few things I'd like to see changed, such as popping you out of zoom when you're hit, [b]A BALANCED DMR[/b], a better Spartan Ops/Campaign (Way too much button pressing) and improved level design. You know what [i]doesn't[/i] make a level more enjoyable? Adding more enemies, which was the approach of Halo 4. Instead of making unique situation it was littered with boring enemies, and a lot of them. This is just to name a few things.

    • Networking. Typically, Halo's had terrible networking when it comes to Co-op (I live in Singapore, which means cooperative online multiplayer is a complete no-go). Halo 4 takes it one step further and even competitive networking is botched. I can adapt to the gameplay changes but it sucks when something outside of my control is affecting my play. Also, theatre for campaign. Why would you remove it? Why.

    • Not much I can think of but 1) Make Boltshot only for Ordnance. 2) Power weapons don't de-spawn so fast when you die. 3) More symmetrical maps!

    • 1) Include more details about who these Covenant are. Their motivations aren't that important just now, but their identity is. Cut the references to [i]the[/i] Covenant and call them what they are supposed to be. Make them look less bestial and feral, and give them back their ability to communicate in Human languages. The way they were in Halo 4 they felt like they had no personality. Additionally insert references to how the Schism played out, how the truce is doing and have John inquire as to the fate of Thel. These were massive parts of the last trilogy and should be included. There's no excuse not to. That would improve the continuity to the last trilogy and make it feel more like this is still the same universe we're in. 2) Change the story away from "Humans are the biggest threat" nonsense to something a bit more involved. The number of "Save the Earth" plots is depressing nowadays, and Halo 4 basically just evolved into what we just accomplished in Halo 3. The Didact's motivations for eliminating Humanity are not really understandable, nor are they even practical. I don't think the "Destroy all Humans" approach was even a good idea to begin with. However we just have to accept that he just automatically assumes that 100'000 years has had no effect on Humanity's psychological, social and cultural views, and follows a primitive Medieval style of morality of punishing the kin of a wrongdoer. Moving on. The Covenant has committed great crimes and many are still intent on doing so. It would have seemed better if he had the intention of killing them too for their crimes, as well as his irrational hatred of Humanity. That would have been a better story not revolving around emphasising how big and bad Humanity is. Earth could have been his first target. Maybe have him compose those of Jul's faction who went with him to retrieve the composer, show his ruthless indifference and deference to the ideals of the Mantle, as well as some vague references to some greater function in composing people (I.e. No Flood infection). It also would have connected better to the last 10 years of canon and not made the impact of the Human-Covenant war irrelevant. 3) I got nothing.

        1. Get rid of weapon drops and go back to weapons on map at regular spots at regular intervals like real halo. 2. Get rid of customization load outs and go back to DR or AR starts like real halo 2.5. Make a nice long campaign instead of this spartan ops crap. 3. Keep the abilities, get rid of Promethean vision, buff roll, delete slow speed fatness after long use of the hard light shield.

          1) Add in a few more lines of dialogue to allow for better understanding of the story for newcomers. Seriously, all it would take to clear up the Storm Covenant is (In the cutscene where Chief first meets Del Rio and is told of the Infinity's purpose): "What are the Covenant doing here?" "They're a rogue faction Chief. They call themselves the Storm, and they still follow the Prophet doctrine." Don't get me wrong, I still think the story of 4 is [I]by far[/I] the best of the series and one of the best in any recent FPS, but a little extra dialogue would have been enough to clear up half of everybody's problems with the story. 2) Completely redo half the level design in the game. Stop with this Halo 2/3/Reach lack of player choice and sandbox elements bullsh1t. Give me the open, airy fields of CE where I can setup battles like the Rockslide megabattle, or the Twin Bridges megabattle. 3) Completely redo the Covenant AI. I like the Promethean's chaotic approach to the battlefield (though that could still be greatly improved), but the Covenant are at their (excluding lolwallhackauotaimconcussionriflespam Reach) absolute worst. Make them [I]reactive[/I] again, bring back roaming from CE, widen the variance gap (i.e. make Zealots ACT like Zealots, minors ACT like minors, etc.)
